Help! How Do I Find the Entrance to "Lady of the Vortex" on the Map?

I have the quest, "Lady of the Vortex" and was at the gate where I click on the shimmering white light to select it, but I went somewhere else, and I cannot get back to that location.

The quest instruction is, "Use the Duty Funder to Confront Garuda in the Howling Eye".

It is not listed in the Duty Finder, and there is no mark on the map where to find the entrance to this quest.

I know I need to be at the exact location (where the white shimmering light is at the entrance) to access the quest in the Duty Finder, but I don't know how to get back there. It's somewhere in the Coerthas Central Highlands, but I don't know where.

Can someone please help? Thank you!

Primal fights are in the Duty Finder, but they're not dungeons, they're called 'Trial Battles', and so Garuda would be in the Duty Finder under 'Trial Battles ~ A Realm Reborn' and 'The Howling Eye'.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure there should be a temporary npc at the Airship Dock in Ul'dah which should provide you access to the entrance to the Howling Eye if you speak to them (I think they may be an Ironworks employee), but the DF is the faster option (the npc would disappear after completing the main scenario quest it's a part of).

Thanks for the response, Enkidoh. Very kind of you.

In my Duty Finder there is no header for “Trial Battles”, only “Daily Roulette”, and “Daily Challenges”.

I traveled to the airship dock in Ul’dah, and could not find any NPC offering access to Howling Eye.

Where would I find an Ironworks employee NPC? Are they somewhere else in Ul’dah? They are not in the air shipdock area.

    Thanks!

In Duty Finder, click the Icon for Trials ARR/Heavensward/Stormblood....

Then open the arrows in the Menu to A Realm Reborn and tick The Howling Eye

    ^Points to Kirika's excellent explanation.

What she said. You've got Duty Roulette selected by default (the '?' button) - you need to select the red Trial button with the monster face to access the Trial battles.

As for the npc to provide access, I have no idea I'm sorry as it was over eight years ago I did that main scenario quest myself so my memories of it are a bit vague. But I'm pretty sure it would be a npc standing near the ticket counter at the Airship Dock that would be dressed in Garlond Ironworks attire, probably. But if you can access it through the Duty Finder that would not be an issue.

Either way, thank you Kirika for answering it better than I could.

WOW! Thank you, Kirika & Enkidoh. I am obviously new to the game, and I had heard the community of players in FF14 were kind and helpful. You both are beautiful examples of that. I appreciate your support and guidance. Thank you so very much.

Kirika's answer is obviously 100% what you need. I just felt that i would add that i think the NPC Enkidoh was remembering was in Gridania, not Ul Dah. Its been a number of years since i did this as well, but in my head we set out from Gridania rather then Ul Dah on this particular mission.

Doh! You are totally right Frizze, I remember now - I got mixed up between the aftermath of the escape from Castrum Centri and the departure to fight Garuda, the former of which the Enterprise docked in Ul'dah, however it's Gridania where the Ironworks npc would logically be, given Gridania is physically closer to the Howling Eye (which is somewhere near the border of the Black Shroud and Coerthas) than Ul'dah, so I am so sorry for the mixup Grokus (my kitty memory is too muddled with catnip I think! haha ).

So yeah the Ironworks engineer that could fly you back to the entrance of the Howling Eye would be at the airship dock in Gridania downstairs from the Carline Canopy.

Anyway, thank you so much for clarifying that Frizze, I greatly appreciate it.
