Thing I would like to exist:
A portable synthesizer shaped like a playstation controller that let's me play music exactly the way I do in game but when I'm out and about in the real world, with all of the options available to bard performance and an internal speaker, bonus points if it is also usable as a game controller. I feel like this is something Square-Enix could actually make happen. I also imagine that a launch of something like this would be a good time to get in some tweaks to performance (specifically a drum kit, as an alternative to the current drum setup that isn't exactly intuitive to how most percussion is played).
In my mind, this is a PS4 controller (I don't have a PS5 to make that comparison), with a beige/brown color-scheme, the buttons labeled with music notes, rather than playstation symbols, and a bard symbol where the playstation logo goes, plus maybe an 1/8" jack somewhere. Only new features needed would be a volume dial (or button choice... say R3 & L3?) and a button combination for cycling between instruments: I'm thinking R1+L1+(R3 or L3) to imitate the current system for switching guitar modes. The thing already has a speaker (might want a better one though) and headphone jack. I feel like this idea would be so dead simple for a company like SE to pull off that it's passing strange that they released a real guitar before putting something like this out there. I for one would pay significantly more than the price of a standard game controller for this. Hell, if this was a functional PS5 controller, I'd buy it long before getting around to upgrading to a PS5.
Anywho, when I realized how badly I want this in my life, my intention was to go straight to emailing SE, but I wasn't sure who at SE it would even make sense to contact. I just figure, with all of the diverse and expensive merch options SE makes available to us (I'm on the waiting list for the Mahjong set), this is not near as implausible as it would be with any other company. Anybody here know what kind of hoops would have to be jumped through to make this happen?
