I have been playing FF14 for many years, and SE has always taken the high road and not turn these people in to the authorities and keep on spending money and resources on IT infrastructure.

It's 2021 and we are about to go into the Finale of FF14 & Hydaelyn Saga, and I think SE needs to take a hard approach (i.e. all ip logs, referrals, payment info, and affliations) and start turning in these cyber criminals and post mugshots and public criminal court cases on the FF14 official website as a strong WARNING that SE will not tolerate cyber criminals and DDOS attacks.

We can assume that they are planning for an attack when Endwalker starts in November, and I think SE needs to firmly and unequivalently tell players this will no longer tolerated now or in the future.....

The thing with DDoS attacks is that they are hard to trace and even harder to defend against. And even when they are traced, they are usually traced back to a country that couldn't care any less about the laws of other countries (or probably even their own for that matter). I'm all for punishing the guilty, but it is extremely hard to do so more often than not when it comes to these types of attacks. Cyber criminals and DDoS attacks have never been tolerated by SE. They are things that they have been forced to endure in a digital world. All most companies can really do with how the internet is set up is play defense.

It's not hard at all. It's extremely easy. SE has just reserved the right over the years to not pursue criminal charges for cyber criminals over DDOS attacks, but has years of data (2013-now) of players that were banned, using 3rd party software, their affiliations, referrals, payment information and etc. It's just filling out a form below.

What makes you think they haven't reported ddos attacks to authorities? Not every crime makes the news.

The attacks do not target SE directly most of the time, but instead target ISPs on the way to SE with the intention of disrupting as many people as possible. A lot of companies would blame you and ask you to contact your ISP, but what SE does is contacts the ISP and helps them setup countermeasures.
