Here are a list of cyber criminals that have gone to jail over DDOS attacks on MMOS:

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-44038178 [MMO: World Of Warcraft, Criminal: Calin Mateias of Romania, Sentence: One Year of Jail Time & $29,987 (£22,176) Fine]
https://krebsonsecurity.com/2018/12/...hire-services/ [MMO: Gaming Websites, Criminals: Matthew Gatrel, Juan Martinez of California, US, Sentence: Felony]
https://www.infosecurity-magazine.co...eens-arrested/ [MMO: WOW, Criminals: Zachary Buchta of Maryland and Bradley Han Willem Van Rooy of the Netherlands, Sentence: 10 Years in Jail]

Very easy once these cyber criminals are reported....

What makes you think they haven't reported ddos attacks to authorities? Not every crime makes the news.

Absolutely great point. This brings up the NEW Square Enix Terms of Service as of March 12, 2021.

'G. Cooperation with Law Enforcement. Subject to applicable law, Square Enix reserves the right to involve and cooperate with law enforcement authorities in investigating any matters at any time without notice to you and with or without the receipt of a formal subpoena, search warrant, or other legal process. You acknowledge and agree that Square Enix may provide your electronic communications and data, including emails and chat logs, to such law enforcement authorities without any liability to you or any third party, unless prohibited by law.'

Would be a very interesting night playing a savage raid on your computer years down the road, and then being walked away from your home in cuffs.

The attacks do not target SE directly most of the time, but instead target ISPs on the way to SE with the intention of disrupting as many people as possible. A lot of companies would blame you and ask you to contact your ISP, but what SE does is contacts the ISP and helps them setup countermeasures.

A brand new poster with a controversial opinion and a great deal of scaremongering on a character account whose highest battle class is level 32.

Somehow I doubt this is coming from a genuine place of concern.

It's 2021 and we are about to go into the Finale of FF14 & Hydaelyn Saga, and I think SE needs to take a hard approach (i.e. all ip logs, referrals, payment info, and affliations) and start turning in these cyber criminals and post mugshots and public criminal court cases on the FF14 official website as a strong WARNING that SE will not tolerate cyber criminals and DDOS attacks.

We can assume that they are planning for an attack when Endwalker starts in November, and I think SE needs to firmly and unequivalently tell players this will no longer tolerated now or in the future.....
You do know how it is to trace and prevent DDoS attacks? They are a nightmare, and if the place of origin is a country that does not give a crap SE can try to punish them but if the country does not play ball what can SE do?

Sure would be nice to watch them burn but reality is different. If a group wants to DDoS the game they will just a nature of the beast it is less about prevention and more about recovery after the attack.

Maybe they based their post on NCIS or something where you can trace a bad guy in moments.
