I thought the class rings could be stored in the Armorie?

1.0 items should remain forever unattainable because that was their whole point, especially the Legacy chocobo attained through the Legacy Campaign - it's part of the game's history that is gone forever (SE actually tested the waters bringing two previously old unattainable 1.0 items back temporarily during a Rising event a few years ago; the Manderville Earrings and the White Raven Earrings.... and the huge amount of vitriol spewed on this forum about it spoke volumes to SE, meaning there is now little to no chance of ever seeing any other old 1.0 items return, SE simply will not repeat that mistake again.).

Old seasonal event gear however should eventually return on the Mogstation for sale, which a lot has already. As for special bonus items attained with merchandise, having such items as a bonus is an incentive to purchase the merchandise in the first place (particularly when the merchandise is first offered for sale, usually for preorder), having an alternative means for attaining those items means SE loses money on less sales of the merchandise they would otherwise have.

Same goes for preorder bonuses for the expansions - if these were offered after the expansions were launched then SE would potentially lose preorder sales that would affect their bottom line that month, it all comes back to economics.
