Riding Maps in Norvrandt?

I can now fly in Lakeland. I wondered what the riding maps do, so I bought one for bicolor gems and did a test.

With the Lakeland Riding map in my bags, but not "Used" I rode and flew a set course.
Then I "used" the Lakeland riding map and rode and flew the course again.

No change. The times were the same, as measured in the recorded video, for both riding and flying. Within a margin for error.

So, can someone explain this result? Do riding maps only do anything before you can fly? Yes, flying is faster than riding - 70 sec to ride vs 40 sec to fly on the course I set. But it appears that once you can fly, you get the boost for riding and don't need the map even if you want to ride.

Does someone have a pointer to a reference for the details?

Yes, I understand that. but I expected the test to show a riding speed increase and it did not.

Nope not using the bike. Riding a glowy horse - Athalon? - and flying the Demon Lanner.

Maps I believe only impact the ground speed of the mount.

I'd need to start a new character to test this though since my current ones already have all their maps

Maps improve ground speed. It doesn't effect Flying Speed.

Yes, that's my understanding as well. But I DID NOT see a "Ground Riding Speed Increase" after "Using the map".

I would say try two points in a straight line. Its there. Lag may also be effecting you. Any additional movement or turns give a bigger margin for error then you think. The speed bonus isn't that great. Maybe 2 or 3 seconds off a straight 60 seconds distance.

I think you may have... used the wrong unit of measurement there on your last bit.
