Other MMOs like ESO and PSO2 already let you change your character's mannerisms to match what you feel it is appropriate for them, so it would be nice to get this in XIV.

Also, if a ehm.. can do it, why can't SE do it? I don't think it's as difficult as people make it out to be.
Well, here's hoping.
Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!

I really want some of the male /cpose stances for weapons. Especially DRG and DRK. Square won't let us have this but they will put out official renders of jobs using another job's stance sometimes and it feels like they're just taunting us.
I think I'd like this to happen: unlocking all movement and idle animations for races so we can pick and choose them at character creation. There are some amazing Elezen animations I'd like to use on my Au Ra.
Transposition one animation set onto another race/gender skeleton is remarkably easy and can be done in minutes, especially with developers tools. Implementing it wouldn't be that much either... so it'll never happen but if they chose to make it so, it'd be dope as heck.
Please, no... not at character creation, having to pay $10 USD plus tax to give your character a slight tan is bad enough already.
I'm a bit conflicted on the topic of making all gender- & race-unique animations available to all genders & races. On the one hand, I absolutely hate the male Au Ra Devilman Crybaby runs & the "cute little anime girl" mannerisms of female Au Ra, & I dislike a few other things about some other gender- & race-unique animations. On the other hand, it's undeniable that gender- & race-unique animations are a part of what makes a race special.
To give, say, the female Miqo'te default dance emote to a male Hyur just doesn't feel right to me. & I don't even know how you would begin to go about giving Lalafell the male Au Ra run, or vice-versa.
I would love for all the weapon idle poses & the battle pose & victory stance emotes' animations to be available to your character regardless of gender.
I would love for the default dances, idles, & sit poses of each race to be available regardless of gender-- race-locked but not gender-locked.
But I don't think that a race's unique animations should be made available to other races willy-nilly. I think that the best way to address the limited nature of gender- & race-unique animations would be to create more idles, sit poses, run cycles, etc. that could still be gender- & race-unique but would have a greater range of personality, emotion, etc.
I suppose that I haven't yet considered that small indie company Square Enix couldn't possibly handle this insurmountable task with how poorly performing their least popular property, the MMORPG Final Fantasy Fourteen, is...
Forgive me for my snark, but I & hundreds of thousands of other players (including yourself!) spend way too much money on this game to simply accept the sorry state of character customization & the other issues in FFXIV.
Like, they still haven't taken the time to implement good, wearable Viera & Hrothgar hats (without shrinking the hat, completely doing away with hairs & ears, &/or clipping ears through hats), but some random modder is out there painstakingly making otherwise invisible headgear wearable on Viera & Hrothgar without cutting any corners. We shouldn't act like this is acceptable on the developers' behalf when it absolutely is not.
Whoops, I went on a bit of an unrelated rant there. I can't emphasize enough how much I hate the male Au Ra gamble, though. It's painful to look at & I have to run around with my weapon drawn because it's slightly less distracting & bad-looking. I haven't entertained the notion of having a female Au Ra alt player character after seeing their animations because the cute-little-anime-girliness of it all, alongside the extreme height differences & no black sclera on female Xaela, just... really put me off, personally.
No yeah I'm actually of a similar opinion, to the point I made a thread on that very topic. Being able to swap Au Ra animations to another race's would help, but it still wouldn't address the design issues (which, I know plenty of people like how they look right now, but design issues is what they are to me...)I can't emphasize enough how much I hate the male Au Ra gamble, though.
