That depends on who you ask.
I personaly would say yes but that also the case because FF14 doesnt play with Race or Class identiy much.

Well, we did recently have Zero who, despite being a female Hyur, used male animations. Sure would be nice if we could, too...

Most likely.
But there are those races where the body skeleton/structure is different between the male and female counterparts that SE probably wouldn't even add that minimalistic option due to how it most likely would stretch/compress the mesh of a character.
And seeing how one of SE's reasons why not to add body sliders is because it would mess up the textures of stuff, implementing anything that could cause issues to textures is most likely an instant "No".

Honestly, it'd be nice...
It'd also make me give Elezen a chance if I can switch their...run animation.
I'd love to get my AuRa jump on my miqo'te...or get the male miqo squat on my female miqo...

I think it'd add alot more customization and I'm here for it...

Wouldn’t it be extortionately expensive to have to redo every movement animation for every single existing race? I imagine they’d need to readjust every animations to make sure they still worked on other races (i.e Roegadyn with Lalafell movement lol).

It's not like they'd be redoing them from scratch, no. Unlockable emotes are the same across all races, so clearly they're already set up to share animations
