well what im referring to is the EX content which is meant for HARDCORE players which is the reason why yoshi said he didnt want it in the game he said voice chat is meant for hardcore gamers so i fail to see the reason why you would put that said content in the game and make it that harder to communicate during hard fights especially when roulettes would take way to long to get a hold of especially if you are doing a large string of them in a day IE 40. he is just a lazy POS because all online games have voice chat in them nowdays

Well, wow got its VoIP feature in bfa! That's the like... 7th expac! And frankly, I've never used that or seen anyone use it

I can see how it'd be very helpful for console players but... Doubt the netcode let's us have proper sounding voice chat!

I also don't think blizzards current state and the lawsuits have any bearing on the development of FF, frankly I doubt it had anything to do with the blizzard voice feature either! Those were added when they upgraded the battle.net client AFAIK.

Which, AFAIK is the platform we use to voice chat in-game. Its not uh... Hardcoded into the game per se but the battle.net client.

Just relax and install discord on your phone if you really want to chat with your raid group. It's what everyone does in all games anyway, not just mmos neither ^^

You can't compare WoW not having VOIP to a cross-platform title not having a way for people to communicate without having to use a separate device (PC or Mobile). It is wildly easier and more comfortable for a WoW player to boot Discord/TS to talk to people than it is for a console FF player to use two headsets across two different devices to communicate with their friends.

It's a much more pressing thing for FFXIV to develop its own VOIP system than it ever was for WoW to do it.

i mean.... you dont have to play the game with the keyboard.... just use it to type. mine has a cord and plugs into the usb slot. never had a problem keeping up with chat. dont even have to click the box to type just type. i know im late to this post but you just sound like a moronic baby. discord or keyboard. both good options. i agree with yoshi p. half the time people wouldnt even be talking it would be 8 year olds screaming into the mic or saying dumb crap, or middle age thuggy dbags blasting their crappy rap into the mic. people arguing and insulting one another. the whole girls being harassed in games thing is real af. people already do enough insulting in text chat. my first year playing the game when it came out i sucked, didnt know what i was doing. people didnt offer advice or help, they just insulted me. stopped playing until heavensward, because i loved the game. people arent as fricken crappy in it now a days i see, most people genuinely want to help. whereas if you play things like cod people just shit on you and scream. would be the same here. it would ruin the game not help it. so be a good boy and turn on you fricken skype lmao

This raises several questions. Was this really an issue back then, especially in Japan? Did he personally fear this and have evidence supporting it? Does he still think this now?

It would've been better to just use all harassment as a bullet point, though with how sensitively this is handled now it probably isn't a large concern anyway.

Oh. Females would definitely be harassed if heard. It happens to us almost all of the time. I would still take voice chat even with that possibility in many other games, however... I don't really think FFXIV itself needs it. I can see why it'd be frustrating on like PS3-PS4 with no Discord support, but you can just buy a wireless keyboard and use that. Otherwise, PS5 is getting Discord support now, so just use that.

again this is mainly an issue with roulettes you dont know who you will be in the group and 10 times ive got ramuh EX and i ask does everyone know what they are doing what happens is we wipe 20ish times and it makes me very angry and ive wasted like 5 ish hours thanks to this yoshi clearly doesnt know how to make some things right about the game

Honestly adding VC isn't likely to change much. People will still just ignore you, some may even turn it off to avoid having to listen to other people. It's a player problem, not a game problem. If they want to communicate and learn, they'll make effort to whether by chat or by voice.
