





I have to wonder if the "doll doesn't look like Y'shtola" complaints are a sort of uncanny valley effect except instead of expecting it to look human, they're expecting it to look like her game model.It's definitely intended to reflect the Dollfie aesthetic more than the in-game Y'shtola. If you look at the other dolls on their website, you can see the resemblance.
That's not out of the ordinary for most "brand" doll makers. Their dolls usually have traits that make them immediately identifiable as coming from the specific company.
If it was, say, a Funko Pop figurine with their distinct style that is very different to FFXIV's art style, people would think "of course that's Y'shtola" even though it's a long way from how she actually looks.
But Dollfie's distinct style is close enough to FFXIV's (while perhaps not being familiar enough) that people just think they've done a poor job of making it look like the character.
