Can Ruin II have a different name for Scholar?

This is a pretty minimal thing, but it weirds me out that Ruin gets upgraded into Broil spells, and Bio II gets upgraded into Biolysys, which both look neat in terms of their newer icons and provide more visual differences than the separate Summoner job... and yet Ruin II just remains Ruin II even after a trait increases its damage. If Scholar wants to have a more unique identity than Summoner, which seems increasingly wanted by the development team too since almost none of Scholar's kit exactly matches Arcanist and Summoner now, then couldn't Ruin II also be upgraded into something unique as a trait?

I know that this is a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but it would just be really nice for me to see. Does anybody else think that Ruin II should get to upgrade into some Scholar-specific spell, or am I alone on this? Thanks for any other feedback too, and thanks to anyone on the development team who may decide to implement a related change for this!

Well, good news: Ruin II is getting removed in the Expac, so you don't have to worry about the naming convention anymore.

This is not a conclusion you can draw from a job actions trailer. Job actions trailers are meant to showcase new ability animations and mechanics, and often omit actions that remain unchanged. For example, none of the aetherflow spenders are in the job actions trailer, but it would be absurd to think they've been removed.

they'll probably get rid of ruin 2 because they gave sch a 1.5 cast time, same thing with ed .

Why keep Ruin II when its purpose is for weaving oGCD skills? SCH is getting the AST treatment with 1.5s cast times to the 2.5s GCD. Every Broil cast is now a weave window. Ruin II is superfluous.

Because if you are forced to move a long distance or you need a double weave, a 1.5s cast time won't do anything for you.

I play AST. The 1.5s cast times are perfectly fine for moving and weaving. You should be planning out your weaves and put things on a priority list. Do I need the heal first or the damage first? I can draw this card, wait a bit to play it since I need to get out Horoscope. This is gonna be a similar idea for the coming SCH changes. If you need to move more, Switftcast in your weave window.

Personally I remember people who didn't sign up for BowMage in Heavensward rioting and I see this Half-AST casting as an affront in a similar manner. It's not the playstyle I signed up for, and unlike HW I'm not getting anything significant back for it. SCH players often have good reason to double-weave their oGCD actions due to pet constraints, Aetherflow management, and general fight tempo, and I don't see any of that going away in Endwalker. There's going to be situations where I'm gonna pop Fairy cooldowns, and that slight delay you're outright ignoring will get someone killed a few seconds down the line due to not being able to early-weave the action. Are they rare once you figure out a fight? Sure, but it's also not enough of a reason to remove Ruin II for the people who actually use it to their advantage in prog.

For WHM it's undeniably a buff. For SCH it's pointless unless they remove Ruin II outright, where it's then an outright QoL nerf.

Mechanics are Aesthetics. Graphics don't make interesting gameplay.

Dont worry all you scholars out there! You wont need Ruin 2 to double weave when they remove energy drain anyway!

This works great for minor movement mechanics, but don't tell me you're just going to neglect to mention Lightspeed. I don't remember them mentioning that WHM and SCH were getting Sextuplecast on top of the 1.5s cast times.

This will absolutely happen. Wanna know how I know? Sage didn't get a strictly better version of it.
