I loved how the summoner will work in 6.0, but I'll miss my dots >_<
Summoners became a new kind of caster, but with primals as their skill animations...
I'm worried about our pet... does it still auto attack? Or is it just a "glamour" now? If so, Yoshi P's idea to add Egi's glamour in the shop makes a lot more sense...

New players or players that never really played smn at a high level will likely latch on and defend the rework to the death especially if it is easier to pick up than any other iteration. Hopefully it is better than what happened to mch but only one way to really know. Wait for expac and give it a whirl.
I hear people say MCH is far from perfect, but what exactly would a perfectly designed MCH actually be? Different people enjoy different ways to play and I'm sure perfect varies from person to person. I quite enjoy the new MCH. Far more than the old one.

This isn't some random disconnected thread. This is the primary general discussion (yes, DPS forum would be better, general is fine.) And the best way not to have your opinion heard is to keep it to yourself.

If they were truly making changes based on people "wanting flashier Summons" they would have done it way earlier. To them, this rework was necessary either way, complaints or not.
You don't think YoshiP's often said statement that he doesn't like pet classes has anything to do with the change? I believe that has more to do with the rework than the inability to take the Summoner job forward.

I will not go into details but current MCH is a deep as a puddle.

-Heatblast spam is tiring when repeated, especially when raiding savage/ultimate.
-Heatloop doesn't work, if you perform your rotation correctly you will end in a deadend, forcing you to choose between losing Drill/Air Anchor cast, overcap heat or delay Barrel Stabilizer in order to use Wildfire on cooldown. Best choice is to delay BS, which desynch the two cooldowns when they are clearly designed to go together.
-The Queen AI is wonky, its target is sometimes random and it's nothing more than a glorified dot.
-Some cooldown are way too "automatic", you can try yourself, what's the difference between a regular Hypercharge and a Wildfire + Hypercharge? One button.
-Flamethrower is a boring tool that also brings tick fishing, something so annoying for just 100 potency most MCH ignores.

I've seen people saying "I like Flamethrower because I'm allowed to do nothing".
Meanwhile on any other job they can take a break as well and it's not different from spamming Spreadshot either.

MCH rework is welcome and was needed. The only thing is that the rework feels incomplete, making it a snoozejob when raiding.
It's my absolute favorite, but I can't suffer the same boring rotation for another 2 years.

But do you enjoy it enough? Is it your main? Your go to for Raids and Trails? Sometimes being fun to play on occasion isn't enough. When you completely change how a job plays, you risk alienating the core group that plays it.

If the "core" group is trying to turn summoner into poison mage then the "core" group is objectively wrong or unaware of how small they are. There's a lot of summoners rejoicing that their job is finally thematically coherent and brought in line with the rest of the series and a lot of people like me want to play the class more now that it will be actual summoner instead of a reskinned affliction warlock that physically hurts to play. Following that thought, I'm also quite glad that machinist now can use actual tools instead of just being a gunner class back in SB.

Real summoners clearly outnumber dot mages, otherwise they would not have made this change and consequently received such positive reactions across all social media. 10 likes on a forum post that's sad about the loss of dots is nothing compared to the 5-10k likes on the positive reactions of people like Larryzaur, for instance. If you give people the option to choose to play between a summoner like Yuna with big flashy burst attacks versus...Vanille as a saboteur who focuses on debuffs/poison, it is clear what people will gravitate to for the most part.

Well said. You are largely preaching to the choir though, however small it may be.

People like feeling like they have room to improve, and even though machinist is easy and accessible, you peak in skill really early and once you learn how to do the (static) rotation all you can really do is learn a proper opener and learn to time your automaton queens with reassemble so it's aligned with 120s raid buffs

Plus it is a bit more worse on MCH because since it's physical ranged there's no movement optimization, you'll do the same damage at 50 feet from the boss as you will at 2 feet
