No increase to inventory space

I feel anyone complaining about a lack of inventory space is desperately needing to clean out their inventories. I'm holding on a lot of stuff I don't need and I still have space. Throw. Things. Away. You likely have things you're holding on to that you haven't used in months.

I think most people who are having inventory space issues are probably people who have filled up the glamour wardrobe/armory and are down to using inventory space. In general I think the inventory space is fine, the issue is the glamour system doesn't scale at all.

My only real complaint about inventory space that isn't glamour related is that SE likes to create tons of new tokens that don't actually go in the token tab for some reason. I swear it's like the team that designed Bozja just totally forgot the token tab was a thing.

A little odd to me, but admittedly I'm not fussed about my own personal inventory space insofar as our bags go. Chocobo saddlebag helped on that front when it comes to mobile carrying; plus I'm a neat freak and prefer having no more than two rows of space filled up in my bag if I can help it.

I feel like redirecting their focus to adding additional space where possible to retainer inventory, however, would still be good to pursue. They'll never be able to add so much that it negates the necessity of the additional purchased retainers, so I don't think it would be that much of a monetary loss by giving them another page or two of space. Frankly, retainer space and armory space are the bigger concerns over basic bag space.

Gears are easy to get. If you're not leveling that job, I suggest you just get rid of them.
In my experience, when you do leveling roulettes, people care little if your gear is level-matched unless you're the tank and you can't take any mob.
Still, you can just buy stuff off MB to get a starting gear, with the gil you earned leveling previous job.

I'm not sure they've said that there is no possible increase to the dresser. Still, it's clearly not an easy thing.

As for hiring extra retainers, if you're just using it as long-term storage then you don't need to maintain the subscription full time. They will keep your items until the next time you re-hire them for access.

A) I'm not sure where you're seeing 'retainers dont affect the servers' from that snippet, as they only talk about your main inventory.

B) Retainers -do- affect Server I/O load.

Retainers do affect server load, but not in the same time or place as transferring a player (and their primary inventory) into an instance.

Additionally, the reason a player's inventory is crammed is probably because they've run out of storage space on their retainers and glamour dresser.

(Personally it's a mix of that and the "free gear at the end of the dungeon" thing making me hang on to an assortment of stuff for jobs I'm currently levelling.)

B) Retainers -do- affect Server I/O load. How do you think it knows how many items are on each of your retainers the moment you interact with the summoning bell, or what's for sale on the marketboard or has sold to display information accordingly? That data isn't stored locally. All data for all your retainers is pulled from the server the instant you interact with that summoning bell, and is constantly streamed between your client & the server for as long as you're in the retainer interface. Adding in a full extra Retainer free retainer for everyone in the game adds up to an instant 33% extra server I/O load in the pie slice of the server load that is being dedicated to handling Retainer <-> client interactions.

It's even worse that that. Remember that isearch exists and is able to search in real time EVERYWHERE (inventory, saddlebag, armory, glamour dresser and even the armoire), meaning all of those are accessible by the client wherever you are.

Only when you run a search though; not checking it at every moment like it does with your inventory.

Also, from memory, your retainer names come up as ???? when you're in a dungeon and run a search, so it's not loading all of the data properly.

I have 9 retainers... if they give one for free, should be added to the already max.
And with that much retainers, being a crafter, I still feel I need more space...

That's not how it works. A "snapshot" of what is in an inventory container is saved to your local client when you use that container. When you're running a search, it looks at those snapshots. It's why some containers will have a ? instead of a check mark - it means you haven't accessed that container since you logged in so it's not certain the snapshot is still accurate.

Generally it should be accurate if you always play on the same console/FC but it will be wildly inaccurate if you switch between them (logging on from a different PC that also has the game installed, playing from a PC when last time you had logged in you were using Playstation, etc.).
