    Dancer changes

What's everyone's opinion on the dancer changes we know about so far? Couldn't find any thread about the changes overall so I decided to make my own.

From my observations standard step is being deleted to make way for a simplified 1 button standard step, espirit has had it's small amount of complexity removed by making it guaranteed and only generated by the dancer, improv no longer grants espirit, procs are somehow being simplified because apparently it was difficult, and it got 3 new combo actions, one of which is a buff likely used right after improv.

It seems the direction they want dancer to go in is to make it as simple and easy as possible. I could be wrong though, maybe they'll get a new step dance since only having 1 used every 120 seconds would feel weird. Why even have the dance step mechanic anymore then.

I don’t care about DNC, but these changes sound terrible.

The job action trailer does not necessarily indicate this. It doesn't show every single action available to each job. For example, SMN SCH and WHM don't show any aetherflow or lily spenders, RDM doesn't show all possible elemental spells, and SAM doesn't show any weaponskills except the ones that terminate combos.

Standard Step could still exist, with the new blue quick step action serving just to refresh the Finish and Esprit timers during downtime so that Standard Step still benefits from the damage bonus next time you use it.

I'm not sure, I don't think that's likely because the new action applies the same buff as standard step and keeping up standard step is pretty much never an issue you'll run into unless you don't know the very basics of the job. It would be an unnecessary extra button if both it and standard step existed together unless they totally change how it works.

Where do you get all that from? None of that has been said or even indicated.
All they said about Dancer, was that there will be a QOL improvement, so you don't have to swap hotbars around to perform your steps.

The espirit and simplifying procs was mentioned after that. The stuff for standard step is an educated guess I'm making based on standard steps effects being moved onto a different skill. Standard step may still exist but it'd probably do something totally different. The 3 new actions were also said in the LL to be used after 3 existing skills and the job action trailer shows these 3 skills.

I don't think Standard Step is going away. Always getting Esprit from your regular attacks just means a base damage increase. It also might only be granted from flourish moves. The blue attack that is triggered after Technical Step was a min long buff but Technical is 2 min unless they lower that to 1 min I don't see that blue buff replacing standard step. The action that triggers after Saber Dance is probably another AoE attack. Just a line AoE instead of a circle one. Odds are the move that triggers from Improvisation is a heal of some kind since it didn't look like Improve grants Esprit anymore.

Hmm you may be right for the standard step stuff. I was thinking that blue bird attack would have been usable after using technical step and not that other blue attack. I'm thinking the possible aoe line attack is from using devilment since they said new actions would become available after using technical step, improv, and devilment. The ability after improv could very well be a heal of some kind, possibly an aoe heal? If improv keeps the healing up buff it could make sense for it to be usable after that. Makes me wonder if curing waltz will stick around or be replaced with that possible aoe heal.

I also just realized that the proc changes they're making further dumb down dancer by making it impossible to ever have all 4 procs at once meaning when you press flourish you'll press your two single target skills and instantly go back to spamming 1 and 2 to fish for procs. This makes the job never really be required to go into melee range anymore thereby removing that uniqueness it had. Unless a lot more stuff is added this will make technical much less busy due to already getting far less saber dance procs and less feathers. 1-2 new gcd or ogcd buttons that don't fill espirit or proc feathers will not make technical more busy and that seems to be what they're doing.
