This is incredibly true, forums are a outlet overall and I’d prefer debates over a echo chamber of bootlickers. Meet several on here that suggest “stop complaining” and those are the same people of this category who should be ignoredNot all opinions are valid. A lot of the suggestions that come out of this forum are made by people who clearly haven't played this game don't understand design philosophy in the slightest and are only suggesting things because those concepts were in another MMO that they played and they liked that so it should be here. I.E class specs. On reddit the clearly stupid things get downvoted to hell. Here they get to presist. Which is why you get so many complaint threads here.
At least when I come here I can find actual discussions about the game. Some of the topics are silly, but not most of them like on reddit. I shouldn't have to put on a bunch of filters to find buried threads with little traffic to find this. Having discussions of the game is also valid, not that that community and its laughably bad mods seem to think so.
At least some of the ridiculous threads here can be amusing sometimes, like a certain thread yesterday regarding something that happened in praetorium.. won't go into specifics.
As for the "I'm not sure what you think this game is bit"... I'm not even sure what you're insinuating with this bit but if it's what I think it's pretty hilarious. I would love to know what you "think this game is" though, haha.
Reddit is more of an echo chamber than the forums will ever be. for this one reason. They have the downvote system. go there and say something against the system and watch the downvotes fly. Plus... it's REDDIT. :c
I couldn't care less about feigned positivity. I'd rather see more 'real' opinions, and that's more likely to be found here than on reddit, that's for sure.

Its not that serious, the forums are a handful of players, compared to those playing. Also, they're usually the voice of the majority who doesn't want to offend. No one is perfect, nor devoid of being annoyed by things devs and other players do. Its also called "General Discussion" for a reason. You vent here, you go everywhere else for technical/class issues.
again, please tell me what you're on if you genuinely think they don't whine more about the game and players than we do here
every thread has multiple people bitching and arguing about the state of the game or the community and multiple threads are made throughout the day with new posts in the same vein being posted in every single one of them without fail, yeah, deffo less whining than the OF :^)
It's not so much removed but anything other than memes, screenshots, and commissions is instantly downvoted to hell (especially systems discussions).
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I actually prefer these forums to reddit/twitter, constructive critism goes on here without being hammered into oblivion, not so constructive as well but we ignore those
Constructive critism is good for the game, many complaints people tend to have about MMOs regardless of the game is born out of love for the game and desire to see it do well, putting your hands over your ears and screaming I'm not listening is very twitteresque.
Reddit is a self-policing echo-chamber. Due to downvotes, people that don't conform with the popular either get downvoted to oblivion to which point most are unable to see their comments or don't feel like sharing their opinion out of fear of losing internet points.
A head nodding cesspit like Reddit, is different to a place where criticism is permitted. You don't say. Engage the brain next time.
