Thread: New Jobs Expections In 7.0

Red Mage was already kind of Mystic Knight, and now with the Confiteor expansion Paladin really fits the archetype, too. To my mind, a mystic knight doesn't have much of a niche in a FF without an elemental system. Sure, we could have elemental *aesthetics* that impose different debuffs, but that would then make it feel like more of a green mage than a mystic knight. We have enough sword classes, I think that idea is pretty weak compared to other things they could implement.

I do agree, however, that a DoT/arcane mage seems extremely likely after the changes to SMN. I would have preferred that be rolled back into Scholar, but since it didn't happen I could absolutely see us getting something like a chronomancer or sorcerer.

Also agree with people theorizing a second scouting armor class. I could maybe see a corsair/cannoneer at some point, although I think the Limsa GC was kind of intended to make that aesthetic available to all classes.

So my hopes, for the next expansion would be:

* Chronomancer/Sorcerer - use time magicks and references to classic FF villains (Starfall, Big Bang, White Hole, Great Attractor, Flare Star, etc.), DoT mage.
* Blitzer - blitzball - melee DPS, uses scouting armor, has additional ranged options compared to other melee DPS. We don't really have a "sportsman" job archetype, and there is a lot to work with here. But I think it fits scouting armor too well not to be a primarily melee job.

For 8.0, I would hope for:

* Geomancer - greathammer - melee healer.
* Judge - dual-weapon-staff - support tank.

I could see the Chronomancer/Geomancer stuff being shuffled around and recombined ala Gaia, making a time-magick hammer tank and a ranged geomancer/druid type. Or both rolled together into a sorcerer concept. I'd be fine with whatever on that front.
