When NIN was added what they did at that time was add dex to the ARR striking gear and let NIN use it. So back then they shared gear with MNKIf we assume that there will come a time that we only see one job in an expansion, it could make sense for it to be with 7.0, since that fills in the only stand alone armour set. However, in theory they could add new armour sets and possibly shuffle them around. At one point Scouting was a new armour set (Though part of me feels like I remember Ninja sharing a gear set once upon a time, like at the end of end of 2.X when it was introduced. I can't recall if this is accurate or if scouting has always existed for NIN.)
Hypothetically if they were adding Mystic Knight as a Melee mage, they could split Red Mage off from the casters and have them share an armour set (though I admit this is "they could" not they would or they should. I wouldn't even give betting odds on this theory it's such a long shot.)

Thing is though, we still have slots that are available beyond Scouting, depending on where your OCD triggers lie:
There is no official tank role split, so a fifth tank wouldn't be throwing off any kind of balancing.
We technically have four magical DPS classes, so it wouldn't be out of place to give us a limited ranged physical DPS class (which is what BST probably wants to be, if we can look past the pet problem).
Finally, we have four full healer classes, but only three full caster classes, so even with BLU the questions are begged a) why so few casting jobs and b) how is it possible for the devs to have had more ideas for healing job fantasies than casting job fantasies?
It really depends on what your principles are when deciding what the roster is missing. On principle I think a second Scouting class is necessary to justify why NIN doesn't just use the same stats as SAM/MNK. On principle I think we should have more than a measly three casters, at least one that doesn't use fire spells. On principle I think a Green Mage tank and a Blitzer are just two extremely solid ideas that shouldn't be passed up.

Now that we know pretty much what Reaper and Sage is bringing to the table what jobs would you like next?
Personally for me
1.) Mystic Knight (Melee): I loved Rune Fencer from Final Fantasy XI and would like to see a Rune Knight make an appearance again. I would love for the name to be Mystic Knight because it goes back to their original roots. I think it’ll be interesting if this time around they follow the FF5 & 9 template of the job.
2.) Time Mage (Magic DPS): A support mage that would be the equivalent of dancer for the mage group, giving their allies haste and slowing down their enemies. Unlike their past alterations that have had space magic this version would not since Astro already covers that, but they would get the identity of DOT mage since SMN is losing that identity.
I think they will pick up a job (or two jobs) from these three: a caster, a ranged DPS, or a melee DPS sharing gear with ninja (striking).
I still would like the geomancer. I was hoping it would be a caster even before Sage was announced and chemist was all the rage and geomancer was being proposed as a potential healer.
For ranged DPS, cannot think of any, but, a good weapon would be a whip/whipblades, like that of Seven in FFType-0.
For the melee striking, I really cannot think of anything here anymore. Dev team might surprise us a with a new FFXIV original job.
