Hidde Glamours Locally (& other graphically immersive options)

My immersion is fine.

I would just like to hide everyone's glamours out of spite.

And I would like everyone else to have the same option to do that to me too. Mine aren't so damn perfect glamours they would not deserve to be hidden if someone does not wanna look at them.

The arrogance displayed in this thread is astounding. Let me remind you all that he's asking for an option to disable glamour LOCALLY. How is that a problem for anyone else?

In the end, without glamours you'd be seeing characters wearing the same gear thanks to the linear gear progression.

You can already hide titles that people chose for themselves. Titles that people could have spent days trying to get (Necromancer, Legend, etc). I don't see how glamours are any different.

I don't mind the idea. Options are good.

I would like to see some further options, though, such as defaulting to the Artifact or tier gear most recently accessible to the player (partial weekly currency gear would show the previous tiers, while a mostly complete set would just show that set, etc.) or just conditional functionality (only applied to novelty/joke gear appearances or those outside of one's armor class).

but you weren't talking about dev time as far as coding or implementation of the proposed system you were complaining about hiding devs hard work. All of which do so.

Shock I know, but you can mod the files to make this game as immersive or crazy or whatever you want.

This is a waste of dev resources. You want to block glams, do the legwork and learn how.

How many man hours to design a system that will need to be added to regularly to allow players to toggle individual items they find distasteful?

People complain about losing a dungeon when the devs do other content. I’m all for that if the content they produce is wide reaching and useful. For me, this is the most niche issue I can think of, and would be a huge waste of resources.

I mean if they end up doing it, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings or anything, but this would be the fist thing I throw a meme at when people complain about “why no dungeon this patch ahmagerd!”

Great. But that isn't what we were talking about in that exchange.

We were talking about you saying hiding the glamours being "rude" because it hid their work.

Doesn’t really matter to me, but I’m going to find the most obnoxious combinations of gear to wear because my entire character’s gimmick is cosplay and I want people to see it as I do (which is the same reason I’m not a fan of mods.).

I personally wouldn't want other players to decide what my characters are wearing. Glamours are a big deal to me because they display my character's charisma; I wouldn't like that to be replaced by anything else.

I have seen this said on many of these types of threads and all I can say is your character is already being changed on some people's screens as it is with mods. Furthermore, why should you get to dictate someone else's game experience. If the change is client side only I don't see why a player that would be on my screen for 2 seconds as I run along the street in limsa should say to me how I should see the world. I wouldn't use the toggle myself, I like to see some of the creative glams people come up with. But I don't like the stupid chicken heads etc running around either when I am in a fight for the first time that is supposed to have great meaning and I am stood fighting alongside a giant joke. It kinda ruins the moment.
