Is this guy for real or was the healer gameplay actually that bad? Using a macro to achieve optimal gameplay? How can anyone want that type of playstyle?

I... don't see what's wrong with that? Macros are a mainstay in other MMOs and an outright staple in WoW. The reason macros aren't generally used in FFXIV is because their implementation is as horrific as the netcode is. If macros actually worked the way they should, the vast majority of jobs would use them. GNB and DRK got abilities reworked in Endwalker to what they would be if macros worked properly.

The reason macros are basically unusable in FFXIV is because they have no ability queuing, which is only a problem if the action you're trying to perform can't be done during another action. Macroing the fairy didn't have that issue.

I agree and even FFXi uses macros, a game that will be hitting its 20th anniversary soon

Its needed because you gearswap equipment or you want to perform and action and place it on your bar action

Macroing is legit botting. Botting to obtain optimal gameplay shouldn't be allowed within the game. How don't you see it is a problem?

The reason why the macros in FFXIV don't have the ability to queue is so that people won't use them to play the game instead of them. DPS could legit encode their whole rotation on 1-2 macro buttons and be performing optimally regardless of actual skills if macros could be used for them. Same for healers and tanks. If you are using macro you can weave only 1 oGCD without clipping and cast an ability once every 3s, real players can weave 2oGCDs and cast more frequently, pet actions were outside of GCD, and botting with macro obviously worked extremely well there. Now I get why all of the fairy actions became oGCD commands.
