Look at the options for god sake.. they're not asking you to tick your country, they're asking you to tick your landmass. The question after is more relevant as far as specifics go.

It's not hard to list: Canada, Mexico and South America.
What are you on about?
Oh gods no...MORE THAN 5 OPTIONS?!?!?!?!
The horror.
When your hate for America blinds you to simple truths. Is Canada considered part of the US/North America? No. It's its own country.

Is Mexico considered part of the US/North America? No, it's its own country between North and South America. It's not even part of Central America.

Is South America part of the US/North America? No, it's its own continent that is a part of the "Americas" but they do not recognize themselves as the general "American" that the US does (hence why Brazilian, Chilean, etc. exists):

It really isn't hard to Google. Just because it's all a giant landmass does not mean everyone there recognizes themselves as American lmao.

Tbh I think you're going to get a very not representative view of the demographics.Heyo all! I am writing a study based on the demographical state of multiple games, and as it happens to be, FF14 is one of them! I would really appreciate if you could take some time off your day and fill in this form and if anyone is interested in the results I would be more than happy to share them! The entire form is fully anonymous. If you have any questions about the study itself then feel free to ask and I shall try to respond as soon as I can! Thank you all for reading this and I hope you have a great day!

If we take Reddit as an example, over 50% of the userbase is from the US and overwhelmingly young adult to adult white educated men ( educated doesn't mean that you're intelligent lol ).
The Subreddit for FFXIV is probably the same and with a ton of people who don't even play the game or did in the past and are moreso just '' Redditors ''.
It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same here more or less, only that at least we can prove that we play the game currently and that's about it.
Edit: Some people even refer to this as the '' NA forums '' lol.
Which I mean, it's not...
It's the English speaking forum.
But I think the mere fact that it's an English speaking forum pushes a lot of people away who are still playing the game.
Canada, the US, Mexico, and the countries of the Caribbean and Central America make up the continent of North America, which collectively with South America is known as "The Americas". It could've been worded better on the poll but I'm not sure the FFXIV general forums is the place for your misguided geographical crusade. Is Canada considered part of the US/North America? No. It's its own country.

If you clicked on the link, there's options for your culture including South American and if you're not on the list you can fill in an entry anyway.

major problem I see is that you will only get "accurate" demographics for english speaking forum users...
I can see asia being severely under represented unless you post this on their forums. other EU languages will be as well.
If anything, the Americas should have been split into North and South America. Pretty hilarious to see the mental gymnastics at play to avoid being considered a part of North America though.
I agree since they do reside in two different hemispheres
personally, as a Canadian, I dont care, I am part of the americas, yes, which in the plural does include South America. we get lumped in with people in the US constantly.. so I am used to it... just never call me 'murican. thats for people south of my border..
You just listed 2 countries and a continent.
Are you now saying that Canada and Mexico are continents?
Or does every South American country not matter and you just don't want to be lumped in with the US in North America?
Not our fault the country is called the US of A.
The poll is asking which continent you live on.
The America's should have been split, that's all. Get over yourself.
