The other funny question was “what culture are you?” and had American & South American as choices. Damn, that had me laughing. That just had me thinking the OP must think everything south of the US border is South America from Mexico on down. And Canadian’s would probably have to go with other judging by Canadian reaction here. This was hilarious. I myself put other even though I’m American, but of Latin descent from another North American country. I’m pretty sure he would’ve wanted me to click South American as he probably meant that as Latin, but that would be wrong as there are Latin people in North America, too.
As far the American Psycho comment, Christian Bale & Steve Carell both in suits could also pass for Latin or Arab, not just generic “White Guy”. Look at Al Pacino in Scarface or Carlito’s Way. He was a “White Guy” in a suit playing a Latin character. Can’t judge a book by its cover as Latin, Arabs and some Europeans & their descendants can be interchangeable as we can share similar skin tones, facial structure and hair color.
Of all the things the xiv community could have argued about, they chose geography because the guy forgot to put an "s" at the end of "America". Never change, guys.
It's spelled "scandinavian" but I gave my input.
The amount of mental gymnastics here is really funny. US people seem to love to pretend they own the term America. I advise looking at a map.
That being said, of course the forum is arguing about something so insignificant when a person just asked a simple request you're not even obliged to follow. Is this really worth 5+ pages?
The U.S. is not America. The full name is "The United States of America." The U.S., like Canada and Mexico, is a part of North America. It is not America in its entirety. The blanket term, "America," covers all of North and South America, including Canada, the U.S., Mexico, as well as all the South American countries (who I won't list out due to sheer laziness). Is Canada considered part of the US/North America? No. It's its own country.

Sidenote to all this, but most of my poor interactions in this game come from Canadians. I thought y'all were nice and all that. However, I will say the few Mexican and Brazilian players I've ran with have been pretty chill.
'' Nordic Countries '' is really way better imo because Finland and Iceland aren't actually part of it but are very similar.
Swedish is even a second national language in Finland but when people include them in Scandinavia they're wrong at least officially.
