Question... What Yoshi-P mentioned about Egi-Glam in the LL again? Are they delivering something different or...?
It would be cool if we could glam the Summon crystals... Instead of Ruby, Topaz and Emerald... we have the option to use Peridot, Sapphire and Aquamarine, to represent Ramuh, Shiva and Leviathan respectivelly. And the SMN itself would inherit basically the same actions, but reskinned. More or less like Blue mage interchangeable primal spells work - Same effect/potency, just different animations.
And as a bonus we could use those gemstones to glam our carbuncles too!

The only thing he said about glam is that you use Carbuncle and if you wanted you could glam your Carby to look like Ifrit/Garuda/Titan-egi. Nothing about the gems or even other Carby colors (though I assume those will stay)Question... What Yoshi-P mentioned about Egi-Glam in the LL again? Are they delivering something different or...?

Ah, shame... for all that matters, it's like on live but reversed. I was expecting that he would drop something or another actually new with the egi glam system.

Honestly i think us not having summons in pvp is more of a benefit for us, as having a giant demi primal out would paint a huge target on us as a problem to burn down. With the mini summons being one hit then done, we might see a return, of the illusion at least, of separate entities being called into the fight.
~sigh~

On the topic of minions in pvp. While it is from... WoW, a funny little thing i noticed while playing the "comp stomp" brawl which is a psuedo pvp match against machine trained AI was that the AI had learned to snipe minions... along with healers.Honestly i think us not having summons in pvp is more of a benefit for us, as having a giant demi primal out would paint a huge target on us as a problem to burn down. So the AI had learned that either minions were a credible threat or just easy points to score...
Another fun detail was they had actually learned to attack from blind-spots too, along with ninjaing the objective.

I am your "average player."Honestly i think us not having summons in pvp is more of a benefit for us, as having a giant demi primal out would paint a huge target on us as a problem to burn down. I'm bad at game design and I have a very skewed view of what's good. You're probably right, pets would be an awkward weakness in PVP... but that doesn't stop my simple monkey brain from wanting them ( T ~ T)

You're missing out. SMN is absolutely NASTY in pvp lmao. We've got a couple of absolutely DISRESPECTFUL burst combos where we stun and then unload every instant cast ability onto a poor unsuspecting sap.
Lol familiarity comes with experience. In large scale pvp your general goal as an individual is to seem as unsuspecting as possible so the zerg will let you get away with being a problem. A demi bahamut floating around doesn't let that happen.
Though, like I said, with primals now being little more than spell effects, we will probably see their inclusion again. (at least outside of trances)
~sigh~

I don't think I've done PvP on summoner (i never do PvP really...) since we HAD pets in PvP lolHonestly i think us not having summons in pvp is more of a benefit for us, as having a giant demi primal out would paint a huge target on us as a problem to burn down. You should try it! SMN is quite strong in PvP at the moment. Pretty fun in Frontlines when you get a raunchy Bane use. You can pretty much mash spacebar the entire time and have a satisfying kill combo with Painflare even if it does come in trances. Whenever you're not mashing spacebar to cast Ruin/Outburst, probably could be something more useful so it all feels very mobile. As much as I'm not looking forward to Endwalker SMN, I am curious to try out Endwalker SMN in PvP since it seems like its strengths would only get better.
I hope that if you do try it, that you have lots of fun with it! Totally understandable if you don't, too.
Edit: I worded that kind of strangely. Sorry! I didn't mean Painflare is only in a trance. But, the combo itself is. You have to kill them before they drink, so anything that isn't instant-cast isn't going to help in that situation. Also didn't mean that it was understandable if you didn't have fun, but that it was understandable if you didn't want to try out SMN PvP because you just don't want to. Super sleepy kitty.
