    Monk Identity and Blitz ?

    As a ARR Monk main through the ages, it's such a relief seeing some actual changes to the class. After watching Job Actions going into Endwalker and reading up on some of the comments on other postings, I've noticed a few things I'd like to ask and bring up some concerns.

    Seems the class revolves around "Blitz" from Sabin FF6 now which seems to be pretty cool. However, not having played FF6 I have no idea what it is, lol. From what it looks like to me is that it just happens to look fairly similar to Samurai using their seals. How do ya'll think they are going to differentiate?

    Additionally, just a personal gripe, removed positionals? For reals, somebody said this in another post but it's absolutely true that they just compromised with the casual monk players that haven't put the effort in that say they have too much positionals. Like either remove all (Which please please please don't do) or remove none, there is nothing wrong with the kit and yeah with the changes there might be new changes which are hard to keep up with, but having something to always go for making every attack have a purpose is what makes Monk fun. Part of the identity for me is the constant moving necessary and having Form2 require no positionals is just a weird unnecessary change. I'm very relieved they didn't remove more though, but none would have been my preferred change in that regard.

    The order of your form skills will determine what Blitz attack you will get, judging from the footage given to us - rather than depend on the number of Sen you have like SAM. That is the major difference between it and Iaijutsu/Ninjutsu.

    E.g. from the demo, we know that Opo-opo -> Raptor -> Coeurl gives us Rising Phoenix, whereas Opo-opo three times gives us Elixir Field.

    The names are similar, and exciting for those who grew up with 6 (or 3 because NA naming)

    Blitz from FF6 was literal fighting game commands - can't really do that here. Well you could, akin to Dancer inputs, but let's not... Go there.

    But the final move? That's either Bum/Phantom Rush, or Tifa's FF7R Starshower, or... Hell, both, but it's cool as hell.

    So now we don’t have 1-2-3 rotatins anymore but we choose which Blitz we want and line up the weaponskills instead ?
    Do I understand this correctly ?

    I didn't even notice that was Starshower! I literally said in my FC that all they had to do was incorporate Tifa's skills to Monk and it'd make me happy. Guess I gotta live up to that phrase, cuz yes... It was certainly cool as hell

    any bets on how complex this will be, though? That example is three/all different and three/all same, so for another example... Do we have three different three/all same blitzes?, or does all three three/all same possibilities make the same blitz? The same can be said for any possible three/two same - one different and any possible three/all different combinations.
    If we compare to Iaijutsu and Mudra, is should be just as shallow and simple as those two, though...

    Who knows? We gotta wait if there's gonna be that testing event they used to do with streamers or wait till release. The system looks pretty good imo and at least at glance, much better than what was pruned away in ShB.

    If you payed attention to the Live Letter, only Twin Snakes and True Strike are losing their positionals. We still have rear Bootshine, rear Demolish, side Dragon Kick, and side Snap Punch. Honestly, removing some, not all, positionals is only meant to help people ease into the Masterful Blitz mechanic more smoothly. We still will have more positionals than most jobs, unless Reaper has more, but we still will be a very busy and positional heavy job.

    There's probably some form of Blitz mechanic that either prevents us from cycling the highest damage Blitz action or make it so other actions have a purpose even if they don't hit as hard as the best one. It's possible Masterful blitz has some layers within, but we're just not sure yet since everything's still not fully displayed.

    We don't know what Anatman does. At any rate, this change is pretty good to breathe some life into MNK as Masterful Blitz has ways to develop. Even if it doesn't, it can act like BLM's Enochian and be a secondary gauge that gets built on for a third gauge, unlike GL which inevitably hits a hardcap due to GCD skillspeed.

    I really dislike them removing positionals on form 2. Monk is the positional heavy melee, players asking for the postionals removed I don't get.. You have DRG, SAM, NIN and soon reaper to play instead. Why change a job you barely play to suit you and screw over the monk mains who love the movement the job requires? #
    Aside from the capitulation to the woe is me too many positional ppl. I like the look of the monk now. It was one of my fave jobs in stormblood along with smn, ast and drk. But in shadowbringers it felt a bit less nice.. it got better and then got weird when they remove the 4th greased lightning stack since that was it's whole schtick for that expansion.
    The new dash looks cool! I still wish it actually did damage though.. I am not likely to dash to allies often. I can position myself just fine!
