IMO the problem is not the gil fee.
The problem is the fact that the game doesn't really tell you that free teleport tickets are actually extremely easy to accumulate, especially if you are not going from one place to another to gather items.
I am sure a lot of players don't even know that aetheryte tickets are a thing.
In the two months leading to Endwalker, you all have more than enough time to get enough tickets to get us through pretty much all the expansions if you are really concerned about it.
Even players who are still in ARR can get enough tickets to get them through all the expansions before the price increase.
And players who will join later will not notice the increase at all because they did not know it was lower before.
I don't think SE wants RMT.The problem with teleport fees is that they're a lazy and poorly designed gil sink. It also doesn't actually do the job. If you want to deflate the economy, give people things they want to buy for gil, rather than something that feels like a penalty for using a basic game mechanic. Here's a simple suggestion: make mogstation items available for gil. Say 2mil or 5mil or whatever amount it is for $1 equivalent on the mogstation. It's horribly inefficient compared to just buying with money, but someone who's got "nothing to buy" with their gil can get something they do want, and many will actively collect gil from other players to get rewards from this system. Nobody's going to collect 10m gil then teleport until it's gone.
You're better off spending that time making gil.IMO the problem is not the gil fee.

Why would someone buy gil then turn around and use that to buy something in the store, which sells it for cash and for less?
You're correct it's not the fee. It's that a lot of players don't know how to make gil or expect to get rich fast. New players need help realising they dont need HQ gear below the level cap and the majority just expect you to have the gear for your lvl for that dungeon.
No gil sink is a good idea. Ever. People with gil to burn like mad doesn't justify it either, it just means they can afford it. Too completely different things. It's honestly the most disappointing news about the expansion in my opinion.
It's gonna give me a reason to build up Aetheryte tickets for sure...unless they remove those. lol
