For being a "shield" healer I'm seeing a LOT of regen abilities. I don't see a single shield heal on that list.
And that's bad news because that completely defeats the point of the Regen / Shield Dichotomy.

The shields might potentially not be included or it has some job mechanic that modifies them into shields. But yes, so far it looks like it's pulling double duty with regen and mitigation instead of shields
I'm baffled what the point of this whole "Regen/Shield" thing was when so far they've done almost nothing to further differentiate between the two. All it will serve is ingraining bad mindsets in the playerbase by adding a likely unnecessary divide in PF with the added categories, sort of like the "must play Noct with a WHM" myth inexperienced players latched onto, except now the Devs have officially stated it to make it even worse.
Sage, like SCH is a Pure Healer with a few shields/mitigation in the toolkit.
They didn't build on shields or do any reworks or try to make it a proactive playstyle. Just slapped a misleading label on that can be applied in Party Finder and called it a day.
Someone was able to make a more detailed look into the SGE spells so just adding it right here and hopefully it can clear any other confusion. That being said, same thing that the numbers are tentative. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...9_AhLrlGVx_nUQ
Here's's yet another condensed version of the the Sage summary.
It's kinda funny seeing it like this. For the most part you could mistaken it as a "Pure" healer with how the developers do it. Also the fact that WHM may have three barriers now also muddles things again. 2 charges for divine bension and now what seems to be the replacement for Fluid Aura.

I know they're going to have a single target Shield and an AoE shield somewhere later but this just screams Pure Healer.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Frankly, as SE keeps saying they're going for pure healers (AST/WHM) and shield healers (SCH/SGE), my opinion is that pure healers shouldn't have any shields at all and shield healers shouldn't have any regens.
I'd see Cardia as sort of the Sage Embrace, except better because 20 more potency that you can funnel into the target of your choice, rewards you for doing damage and not tied to a fairy that you snack on periodically.
This is 100% my take. If you give Shield Healers lots of Regen abilities or vice versa what is the freaking point of differentiating Shield Healers vs Regen Healers?
Take Scholar. It has 2 Shields. Adlo and Succor. Maybe 3 if you include Consolation from Seraph. Out of something like 15 heals or so (including pets).
That is not a "Shield Healer". That is a Pure healer with complimentary Shields. Scholar has more Regens than Shields.
Also: Analyzing the abilities. #15 is essentially a Reverse Deployment Tactics. Adds shields to abilities vs DT's making shields regular heals.
