Option to halve GCD time and double potency in non-synced/instanced content

Playing Eureka recently, I've noticed that it gets to be really straining on my hands/fingers trying to maintain the 2.5 GCD while grinding trash mobs for extended periods of time. I figured that this sort of problem could be mitigated somewhat by introducing an option to receive a buff that would double recast times, yet double the potency per action. The buff could be removed when entering an instanced piece of content, such as Baldesion Arsenal or whatnot, as I could see some unforseen balance problems cropping up like with snapshotted DoTs, or whatnot. But, it shouldn't be a problem for grinding overworld mobs; I'm not sure anyone would be too concerned for that. Plus, it would facillitate socialization during grinds, just like the game it's trying to emulate, by allowing more time to type between actions.

Suggested they try a class with lower APM for the sake of their hands, then saw they main BLM.

Have you considered not hammering the buttons when playing? If you find grinding trash mobs for extended periods of time to be a strain on your hands, that means you're supposed to stop or slow down. Yes, even by closing the game and resting. I don't think they'll ever add anything with the intent of keeping people playing longer in a single session.

I have arthritis and when my hands start to hurt I stop playing, because that's what my body is telling me to do. Listen to yours.

This is a fair complaint and was one of the big issues with Eureka when it was current. The mobs are giant health sponges with barely any mechanics and ff14's combat system just isn't designed well for being used continuously for hours. Eureka's mob grind design is taken from an era when you would right click an enemy and auto attack it to death, with maybe an ability thrown in on occasion.

Echo helps this, but mob grind tends to be something you do solo more often nowadays.

I'd personally add a logogram accessible from the start that locks out your GCD's when toggled but greatly increases auto-attack damage to compensate, perhaps with a small aoe radius.

While i hear the sentiment of your words, I can't agree. This makes some assumptions that aren't necessarily true and even then, wouldn't discredit the concept. You don't have to 'hammer' the buttons for it to get tiring, and even if it was, what harm is there in trying to make things require less physical effort in places where it doesn't matter for game balance? Taking a break when things start to hurt is what I already do, but it doesn't address the time up to that point. It isn't about adding things with the intent of keeping people playing longer, it's about adding an option for making the time someone does spend playing less straining.

if you do this without also doubling cast times, then you basically give BLM similar movement to dualcast with no penalty in damage. Obviously not a good idea. Like, you want your GCD to be 5 but your cast times to be like 2.8 that's basically a GCD of free movement for every spell.

...Why would you assume a concept like this wouldn't include cast times? And even if it didn't, do you really care? I thought by stating that this would only be for overworld content/not baldesion arsenal, no one would have any stake in something like this being added. And, for the potentially most unengaging/repetitive content in the game, at that.

Considering some of the wild and powerful things we can get from Logograms and Lost Actions, something like this wouldn't be too unexpected to see in the next exploration area (assuming it has a similar system).

It's always cool to see those extra actions enable new styles of play, so something like what OP is suggesting would be nifty to see.

I have a friend who literally just used lazy macros like something that casted jolt into veraero when he was grinding all his Eureka relics

You could literally just grab WHM and set up a macro that spams aero and glare/stone and you'd be somewhat close to the damage cap you can do with the job as long as you hit your ogcd skills

Assuming it's just mass content with hordes of people, people aren't really gonna care if you're going to be lazy and use a macro

It's not happening. Server ticks and all that, balance issues (yes, even open world content needs balance with everything else). Not to mention the amount of effort required from an already taxed dev team to implement something like this, despite how simple you may think it is. I'd suggest looking at your ergonomics, if you are on PC there are hundreds of options available to you, if you're on PS4 I can't suggest anything that controller is made for ants.
