Totally not looking forward into getting, pushed, into using Addons and different UIs, like I was in WoW.
This is 100% the concern and inevitable at this point unless SE steps in soon, and I hope they will.

This is a positive! Gives you a giant red flag of who to stay away from, because those are bad players, looking to blame everyone but themselves for their failures.

How do UI changes enforce a job meta? The only portion of the player base who cares about "meta" is the toxic casual part (most of the people commenting on this thread).

The high end, or "Elite" raid scene in the game don't care about addons. Don't care about "meta". Meta groups have never and will never be a thing among the "Elite" end of the playerbase.

Again, this is a blessing, it lets you know which groups to stay away from. These people are toxic casuals who think they are top tier raiders. You should be wanting more of this in the game, you get to add them to blacklist straightaway instead of wasting weeks raiding with them only to find they are trash,

While I actively despise cactbot and wish this were the case, one of said groups was run by someone who had hit top 10 in all 3 ultimates. His requirement stemmed from his perception that it would make his UCOB reprog smoother.

It's possible that the culture of the raiding scene is different over on EU, but this isn't really accurate to my experiences in NA. People do care about the meta, though it's typically restricted to speedkills and Ultimate. I run into plenty of high-end players that circlejerk about the meta in discord, and have been told on multiple occasions by top-tier players that my job choice in a level 70 ultimate is 'tantamount to griefing'.

It's by no means a widespread problem, but it definitely exists among some groups of otherwise good players.

That is the literal WoWification of this game and it is heart breaking. Even if thoe top tier players are not literally from WoW, it's the kind of sentiment that WoW created for MMORPGs. And I hate it. I almost feel misled. When I decided to come to this game 4 months ago, I saw video after video about how there is no meta, play whatever you want, some of the best players in the world are on controller. Oh well.
