I decided I'd add in my own view here. Though I'm just a random player so my view matters just as much as anyone else's save for the dev team.

In a single player game, have fun with mods. In a multiplayer game, play as the devs intend or don't play at all.

Well said. In a single player game whatever you do only affects you. In a multiplayer game, everything you do, affects everyone else, even if indirectly and subtly.
