I have no idea what exactly the OP is talking about as I don't follow many FF content creators, especially those who may have recently come from other games, but I do think it is worth bearing in mind that changes have already been made to FF14 specifically because of the use of mods/tools. It really wasn't that long ago that we were able to set waymarkers during combat but that got changed because of how the feature was being abused by some in the raiding community. To those who are so certain in saying "Nah, what one small group of players does has no impact on the game as a whole!" I'd say that maybe they shouldn't be so sure.

Some of the addons have really helped players. Like that one that lets you change your hotbar to be like the pvp system. So you can hit 1 button three times to do a combo.

There are hardcore groups that will decline people just based on how they have their skills setup on their hotbars. Regardless, it's their group, their rules.

Honestly, as someone whom has vision issues I wouldnt mind at all some nice (thicker unit frames, or nameplates).

Actually not yet, not until I see someone start a thread about how people who color their glams red are ruining the game.
well this is the forum: a collection of complains of problems that doesn't exist.

    Ya that would be good.

I understand how players feel about addons because of wow. The freedom of addons and game design around them has caused lots of issues. So people are worried that the developers will design the content around thinking players are using addons.

That is not the fault of the addons, but the developers for making design choices around them. This company seems to understand that, that the game would be worse to design around something not everyone can use.

So this war against addons from the community is just bad. Let people use them if they want, if it makes the game more fun for them. That is a good thing. Your worry should come if the developers change stances on them.

If WoW "failed today," it would be for much more than one single reason. Even if we were in the Bizarro universe and it did fail for a single reason, I doubt that a complacent fanbase would be it. IMHO.

Nah, some people just really, really enjoy the game no matter what. People do this with music (like anything a band puts out), movies (like anything with a certain actor or actress in it, or by a certain director) and books (read anything by a certain author) so why would it be any different with a game?

It's actually not. Some people love WoW unconditionally. I am one of those people. I got bored of it which is a me issue, not a Blizzard or WoW issue. The game is amazing.

One time I played Abbey Road like forty times back-to-back and got sick of that too, and that's one of the best albums ever recorded in the history of music. Again, IMHO, and also again, a me issue, not a Beatles issue.

To assume that someone else's undying love for a subjective form of entertainment is some kind of religious cult behavior is kind of ... off-the-scale nonsense. Take the subjective thing you like most in life and realize that exact same thing makes another person retch at the thought of it. Vice-versa, while that other person is retching because of hate for a song, movie, or game, you might very well love it.

Neither of you are wrong. It's subjective entertainment we're talking about here. One should respect other's choices (when it comes to gaming, for pete's sake; we're not talking criminal activity here) and not disparage them as if they were brainwashed.

using these mods feels like you entering a dark alley and a shady guy like dark souls pulling you:

    "ps...look what I have here"

    "what is it?"

    "mods"!!

    there's no turning back!

No, it doesn't. It feels that way to you? Like a drug / drug dealer?

    Seriously?

I ran addons on WoW, and I ran what I needed and what I wanted. I never felt pressured into using more addons than I wanted. I kind of chose what I wanted and needed, like an adult.

You could do the same. Anyone could.

This is all moot anyway, tbh.
