It makes one wonder why these people feel the need to stream something that is clearly against the ToS. If you are going to use it can't you at the very least keep it to yourself?

Thank you for more eloquently stating my feelings on the issue. If people want the game to look, feel, and function like WoW, then go play WoW. I feel like something that makes boss fight mechanics definitely qualifies under "affects gameplay". Evidently there is even precedent for them taking action in the past with some kind of automarkers? That makes me feel a little better for sure.personally, I left WoW for many reasons, I have little desire to use something that reminds me of it. If people miss it THAT much that they have to change their UI to reflect it, I feel just pity for them....
if it doesnt affect gameplay, not really sure how it would be an advantage for them. if automates anything, ban the lot. if you dont want to play and just automate, then you dont need to play and your character spot can be used by someone who wants to actually play the game, not bot it. thats the only reason I see to be concerned.
I was really thrilled when I initially learned the game doesn't support or allow these addons. It was a breath of fresh air coming from WoW. And on PS5 I literally do not have the option. One of the key selling points of this game for me was a living room couch gaming experience in an MMO. And in every way thats been fantastic, but not when I hit the inevitable wall of "you need to download X to play with us" Oh well.
Some streamers are being very careful with and some very careless. Asmon stated a couple times he is 100% not using any because people will report him on masse, and he is right.
I just want everyone to be on the same playing field and right now that isn't possible.
It's a comfort thing. You get used to something for years and years and years, it's more comfortable to keep using it regardless the situation. Could they use the default UI? Sure, but as long as it doesn't add anything *too* excessively cheaty (I keep getting glimpses of one that shows when you can move for slidecasting, and I have an issue with *that*) it's not really an issue.personally, I left WoW for many reasons, I have little desire to use something that reminds me of it. If people miss it THAT much that they have to change their UI to reflect it, I feel just pity for them....

UI mods don't affect the playing field.
Unfortunately, this may run the risk of creating community expectation for mods. That expectation already exists for certain mods and websites that measure damage. Communities in this game expect you to be familiar with measuring damage using third-party tools, otherwise you’re left out if you don’t get good numbers using those tools. That’s just an example, but it could easily happen to UI mods that cater to the exact same individuals. I don’t think Square Enix is going to do anything about it. It’s safer for the company to be oblivious to it. The best hope for FFXIV right now is for the console version to grow in popularity so that more endgame communities cater to console players that can’t use third-party mods.
No, they aren't. Taking steroids is changing the playing field, because the other team is facing an unnatural (and generally banned) performance boost in their competition. The game already has a pretty extensive set of options for changing how each individual player views the game; all UI mods do is add onto that. How people process information is entirely personal and cannot really be policed, officially or unofficially.
If you're really sincere about the playing field, there are other mods that exist that do more to affect your playstyle than UI mods.
kind of a cope, but I don't see how it affects to you, wow will probably die soon.
it's the streamers own business if they want to potentially get in trouble lol.
This is really the best advertisement for the mod anyone could have possibly made
