Stop the WoWificaton (ui mods)

I'm not sure why some of you bring up the TOS. You understand a TOS is just something that they have to do to save themselves from legal trouble. It is not something that we have to follow right? And if they have no way to enforce said rules. Than the rule does not matter.
PC players get a perk of Mods. That is it. The content can be done without them, and the devs don't balance the game around mods unlike Blizzard. So people who use mods only do so to make the game more enjoyable for themselves. It does not hurt the game, or the players around because they are not allowed to talk about mods in game.


It is not a double standard on this issue. Bots ruins prices for other players on the market. So it has impact on others. Someone using combo combiner does not.

People have double moral standards. Now because “it doesn't damage others” it is good to use… Stop that bullsht! I am sick and tired of that argument on ACT, on Bard Performance, on mods... etc. It is clear on the ToS.

"2.1 Cheating and Botting. You may not create or use any unauthorized cheats, bots, automation software, hacks, mods or any other unauthorized software or hardware designed to modify the Game and gameplay. In addition, you may not take advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay."

Here’s a very quick solution to end your aggresion; just don’t use them if you don’t like them! Why are you bothered by other people violating the TOS when it doesn’t affect you? How is them getting banned for rule violations any sweat off your brow?

If anyone wants to spend an hour or two reading up on some history of anti-cheat software in MMOS, and why SE and others have such a hard time automating the detection of bots 'n such, I'd do a few googles about WoW and Warden (the software, not the faction).

Long story short: It's very expensive, and it's a constant battle. Not nearly as easy or cut and dry as you'd assume it would be. Still very interesting reading, though.

TBH at this point I feel almost no one cares if ppl file swap their glamours to look different on their client or decide to put gaudy borders around their menu bars.

The conflict happens when it comes to the UI mods that either run functions in game automatically or display data the game doesn't display on its own. The people using these types of mods argue that they are QoL improvements and are OK because they're benefitting from them. The people not using them essentially view these types of mods as performance enhancers or cheats that should be removed which are mostly made up of people with the integrity to follow the ToS without a looming big brother waving around the threat of insta-ban the moment you do something against it and players on console that do not have access to such mods.

Honestly is the same stupid argument you see on games when a highly beneficial glitch or exploit is found and people start abusing it to the point it gets patched out after getting attention from the game's devs.

Well, how are YOU affected by those who do not like, the idea of UI Mods and Addons?

Are you worried that if SE, starts to take an aggressive approach against those found to be making use of said Mods/Addons that you, yourself would be at fault too?
Maybe you're worried that, if say, you're found to be using these Mods/Addons that action against your account may be taken, and result in you getting banned?

I mean, if the OP shouldn't be bothered by these people who use them, than you shouldn't be affected by it either, right?
