I’d recommend pushing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and bring up task manager. From there go to “options” and select “Always on Top”. Whenever it does this in the future you should force close the application. Continuing to do what you are doing will break your PC.

Yeah, I never like to forcefully shut down my computer--hopefully the task manager will pop up this time if/whenever I black-screen again, as I couldn't get it to show up (visually) before no matter what I did.
