They should care as the more you dumb down important roles the more you need to dumb down content difficulty and then eventually all aspects of the game. Mmos are kind of expected to have tank and healer shortages because only a few dedicated people play the roles or at least try to. These roles are supposed to be played by the people who enjoy them which in turn usually means they're also good at them.
