The thing that confuses me about Themis is -
If we’re meant to believe he’s Elidibus, why does he have a white mask? I will have to go back and check but I thought the volcano story referenced in the Tales from the Shadows was referenced in Elpis. In that story, Elidibus is already Elidibus and Speaker of the Convocation so his mask would be red by the time we get to Elpis. If he’s going incognito to investigate, then why are his robes still white if the only people who have white robes are the speaker and ex-Convocation members who didn’t die? And while not everyone would know his face in a society that wears masks, he’s the speaker so I would assume everyone would know his voice.
Well, my thoughts:
If you wanted to go undercover, why would you carry around the thing that obviously identifies you as a member of the Convocation? Putting it away and donning a common mask would be the way to go.
The robe thing is harder to explain, but I get the feeling that everyone collectively misunderstood the significance of the white robes. But I don't have the actual quote on hand to confirm what was actually said about them.
