Gathering NPC's quest givers are all scammers!

I'm fairly new to the game, and so I took up a gathering profession. So far, the NPCs who are giving out the job related quests are just a greedy bunch of good-for-nothing lazy bastards. They all require HQ products that if y0ou went to Market Board, you could see them selling for thousands-a-piece. Sure, probably inflated because those items are required to finish the quest, and so the normal 5gil/piece is 5000 in HQ to obviously make profit out of the lazy players who cba farming the grindy way. Thats not even the worst, one of them pops a speech bubble when you interact upon UNfinished quest saying something like "chopchop, don't waste my time talking to me until you're back with the stuff", like seriously, attitude???? I must have handed over stuff worth over half a million and I'm not barely half way through the level cap and he gives me attitude!? Duuude!!!

    Scammers, all of them!!!!!

I'm hoping this is supposed to be tongue in cheek and not actual feedback.

In case it's not, the quest NPCs have nothing to do with the marketboard prices. You got scammed by other players who prey on lazy people, not by NPCs.

    Good idea.
I will spend 10 min of my time to gather and craft the quest items to sell them with a 5000% price increase to get Gil from lazy player.

I know full well this is how it works xD Although, point remains, they all require HQ items, often ones hiding behind a certain tradeskill threshold, like Perception etc.. All they do is sit around in their huts and do absolutely nothing. At least Edgyth is actually standing IN the field as if pretending to work, bless her. The rest of them? Lazy scamming bastards!! I sometimes wish the game offered the option in the dialog (the one of very few that you can choose how to answer) something like "how about you get off your ass then". the MQS was brilliant in that, they actually gave you an option to complain. not like you avoided having to do anything, but the hint was there. Like when you make it into that fairyland zone and have to befriend the dog baset-like NPCs, when Thancred says something about "chores" and rolls his eyes lol But no, this lot are something else. Sitting around, waiting for you to do all the work. lazy!!!

It wouldn't be much of a game if the NPCs did all the work for you.

While I agree about the NPC quest givers being "lazy" from an RP standpoint, it wouldn't be much of a class quest if we didn't need to obtain HQ items as a single *plonk* or *swoosh* would get us the item.

On the topic of quest item prices being much higher than the rest; never underestimate the hordes of people who find it easier to make Gil and buy a required item at a "Convenience Upcharge" than to go out and get it themselves. There are a lot of people out there who want to level DoH or DoL in order to access endgame level items without having to go through the drudgery of doing the gathering and crafting needed to get there on their own. That's a good market that any wise crafter will get involved in, even if it's only on occasion.

It's the same for Levequest and GC turn-in items. DoL and DoH can make steady money getting/making daily quest items for people to buy and turn in. A great example of this are Coffee Biscuits. On my server there are a number of people selling stacks of HQ for 600 per item when the Levequest will easily get you 3x that per turn-in. Imagine spending 60K gil to make an average gross of 198,000 or net 138,000 every two days per stack of 99.
