Regret transfer from congested world

Absolutely not a "hate on Crystal" intention. My ONLY beef was the shock of going from a server where, even when an area was packed with people (Limsa, for example) I had no lag or disconnects to transferring to Mateus and logging in to an immediate lag freeze followed by 90006 disconnect. I honestly have zero knowledge of the reputation of each world/server. I don't normally hang on on forums. My apologies.

not sure if its been mentioned, but all the data centers for NA are in the same place, so, what area of the world are you connecting from?

Mateus and Balm barely hit 50-100 wait time during rush hour so they arent all that congested. The issue is that, being some of the major rp serves a overwhelming vast of players are in the 3 major cities so yeah, prep for lag if you visit those spots.

I am only just now realizing how rarely "toon" is used in FFXIV.

"Toon" started with Cartoon Avatars in IRC channels and then was used to describe the 2D Avatars in The Realm Online and Ultima Online when those came out. The term carried forward into Everquest and from Everquest in World of WarCraft.

WoW STILL calls player characters "toons" on a routine basis.

That term has been used since MMOs started. Before, if you want to get specific. It's only the new kids on the block who weren't around back then who think it's some shameful thing.

Been playing on Mateus since I started (I'm an EU player) and I didn't experience any of these issues. My internet isn't that good, so it's odd that is happening to you. Have you reached out to Support for a transfer back? I personally haven't struggled with finding people to do content except for BLU and Monster Hunter stuff (which is rather unfortunate).

I want to point out my observation on Crystal being "carebear."

My main is on Zalera(Crystal) and I have an alt on Jenova(Primal I think). I have been leveling WHM on both characters. I can say without a doubt the folks on Jenova are FAR nicer and more understanding when I screw up than the ones on Zalera. One tiny mistake on Crystal and you will be hit with the most abusive garbage trash talk. I am not even talking about someone dying. I mean you just didn't keep some DPS fully topped at all times because it will regen itself between pulls. So yeah mileage may vary on the carebear front.

I recently transferred off aether as well to crystal. My regret though is how the content is tackled. In my experience thus far being on crystal, there is a huge skill gap compared to aether. Everything feels slower now. People don’t seem to try as often. Its hard to explain unless you’ve played on both datacenters

I noticed the same thing when I've been used to Primal. I didn't transfer, just made an alt on Crystal.
