My point is when youc all it an exploit, you are calling the people who take advantage of it "Exploiters"
and that carries a very negative connotation.
I definitely prefer the regular way to beat it, but I would never chastise someone for SE's mistake
because it is, in fact, an exploit

and if that ends up being the case, it's irrelevant because at least every group is forced to deal with aerial blast and phase 3- which are clearly intended mechanics in the fight... and which, incidentally, are what's holding back 90% of groups from being able to down garuda without leaning on the blm burn exploit.

the fact that the so much of community fights tooth and nail to white knight exploiting/exploiters every major patch is just incredible, and only serves to underscore how our community is comprised primarily of carebears drunk with entitlement, rallying against anything resembling challenge and expecting everything to be handed to them on a silver platter.

while part of the blame rests on square's shoulders for not making more of an example of people who choose to exploit even after devs (and yoshi himself) make it clear what they're doing is taking advantage of bugs in game design, at the very least the community should have the fortitude to sack it up and admit it's not cool.

but people instead choose to delusionally defend exploiting, because all they really care about is that they benefit from it. and their primary argument is "well, it doesn't affect you so why do you care?"

99% of anything anyone does on the planet doesn't affect you. so do we just stop convicting criminals of crimes simply because it has no direct impact on us individually? that's retarded.

no, this isn't real life. but just as there are rules in real life, there are rules in games. especially when the game is a sandbox where lots and lots of other people are playing. without rules it's anarchy. if you want anarchy, play single player console games.

    bottom line.

I know..... I just think the day they figured out it was a design flaw, they should just patch it right away. I would have been fine with them fixing the Garuda thing when they first noticed it

BLA BLA BLA QQQQQQQ SANDY HERE SANDY THERE QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ.

Fix is coming, why in the name of the Old and New Gods are people still whining/bitching regarding this issue? People that have been using BLM burn method and never won it normally will ends up dying when fixes comes, what do people expect to achieve from this argument? banning those exploiters?

If anything, I am glad this exploit happened. Pretty much told the developers that they need to pay closer attention to what they make and test every little thing you can before releasing something.

It's called Golden Week, oh it's also called: "We're busy working on the next patch so you won't complain, but we also need to take a look at the design (analyze) and come up with an appropriate fix for said hot fix."

You can exploit in any MMO, no matter if you have 820 Einsteins on your development or 20 monkies, players can and will find ways to exploit something, stop thinking they don't pay attention because if you've played any other MMO, especially of Korean and Chinese origin you'd realize very quickly no matter what is done people will get around anything.

True too... but the thing is.. the more you test, the less there is for players to find....
Players should have to go through hell and high water to find a design flaw.... not just inadvertently burn at the right time

Maybe, but FFXI and FFXIV have been the only MMO's I have played (played a lot of them) where exploitation is taken advantage of at a severe rate. Things I see are something that could of been easily spotted by a tester, but didn't happen. Sure a bug or two gets by everything, there is no way to make things 100% perfect.

What I am saying is that something that is obvious as this should have been spotted. They should of known this could of been taken advantage of if people can get hit below 50% before phase 2.

All people really do is use exploits in this game, rather small or big. Rather it just run through DH without killing mobs, certain spots in Ifrit guarantee not being hit, midway death/revive in Moogle, or BLM sweet spot on Chimera.

So unless SE has some new structure for fights in 2.0, all I will see people do is find exploits to make it easier. In all fairness however, when you do grind a boss all day, you do just want to make it quick. Hopefully there will be enough content to distribute that we don't get that grinding feeling. When people get bored and just want their item at that point, finding exploits are inevitable.

So I do agree with you, but exploitation is the worse I have seen in this game, and there are just obvious things here that I find hard to believe that testers could not find this.

In all fairness to the XIV team they have most of their resources working on 2.0. The QA probably isn't nearly as thorough because its temporary content. I dont even think these primal battles will make it into 2.0 at all, at least not in their current form. Its also why server instability has been so difficult to fix over this last patch, they are working with split resources, and obviously XIV is going to draw the short stick. When you have deadlines to meet on *both* ends of the floor, it can be really hard to push out non-buggy content. Ppl want 2.0 on time, that means XIV has to proceed more or less on time. Its a nightmare of a situation SE put themselves in, all for delivering players an MMO that meets expectations.

As far as XI goes, I have no idea why that was so bad. Then again, you had an MMORPG noob designing it. That might have been the problem.
