It is also a multistage upgrade process (which is true of all relic weapons of every expansion). The initial stages are never "good" compared to other weapons available, and the intermediate stages lag slightly behind other weapons made available at the same time. It's only the final stage that is best for its expansion of release.

You're effectively on stage 1 now. The progress path for the WHM weapon is Thyrus - Thyrus Atma - Thyrus Animus - Thyrus Novus - Thyrus Nexus - Nirvana - Nirvana Zeta

Unless you're going to use one of the versions for glamour or want to see the story related to an expansion's relics, none of the relic weapon quest chains is worth doing. The useful life span of the final version is only a few months if even if you complete it when it's current content. It's months of effort to get something that's only marginally better than other available weapons. The relics exist to give players a long grind as content filler at end game.
This is how I remember it, having done it at the time. Also the same way they presented Eureka etc. ARR Relic in particular hasn't aged well as the community has moved on. In particular, in those days the community aspect of the game was more front and centre with no Party Finder/Raid Finder etc. Free Companies were nearly essential to getting this type of content done. As we've gravitated away from that type of gameplay, the community has moved more to Linkshells and 3rd party platforms to communicate and interact. For old content, Google is typically your friend sadly..
