    Help with dye

I'm currently wearing the Scion Adventurer's Boots, and they are an off-white colour. Everything, including the straps on boots is the same off-white colour, barring the soles which are black.

I would like to dye them Pure White, yet when I apply the dye, the straps turn to a disgusting grey colour.

I'm wondering why, and if there's any way for me to keep them white while dying the boots?

Since we only have one dye "channel" what ever you get with a particular dye is what you get. You can preview all the available dyes and see if anything looks good. Unfortunately some items just dye poorly.

Are you saying it actually looks different after you dye it than what it looked like in the preview? I haven't personally seen any item like that. If so then it's a bug and should be reported.

I understand, it's just a little confusing because the original colour of the straps of the boots are off-white. Even with one channel, I presumed they would stay the same if they aren't part of the parcel. Unfortunately, they don't even stay their original colour, they just change to a yukky grey colour.

Edit: I tried to apply a Jet Black dye and the straps changed colour to black, so presumably they are included. I'm just wondering if they are intended to turn grey when I apply the Pure White dye to them.

    It’s more like this:

You apply a dye to an item and the “main part” gets as close to the dye as possible, with sub parts being dyed similar or complementary colors.

Some cases it isn’t even in the same dye family (often shades of gray).

Again, less like dye channels and more like picking a color for your favorite smash bro’s character.

Sadly not possible. I really wish we had a better dye system.

As I said, some things just dye poorly. There is no other option in the game currently. Presumably what a dye does to any particular item is what they decided it should do (or possibly just didn't pay much attention). You can suggest they change that, or you can try to report it as a bug and hope someone agrees it's a problem.

As mentioned some things just aren't gonna dye too well. I wanted more of a 'red' with what I got so I used Blood Red. It turned more into a fiery red with the corset being blood red and the skirt being pink.

...Not the combination I expected but I really like how it turned out! Gives a more fiery impact! If nothing else it may be worth experimenting with what you have to get a result you're satisfied with.
