Unlike other MMOs, the screenshot button here doesn't properly work ( At least on some PCs ) for a weird reason. When I started playing the game, I wanted to take a screenshot but got an "Unable to screenshot" message.
That problem wasn't solved for me until later after starting SB, which was after months of playing ( After completely finishing ARR and HW exactly like how some new players are doing with the new free trial ), and that only happened because I found an article on how to fix the screenshot issue.
While your statement can be valid in other MMOs, it's not here because I can see others having the same issue or maybe an even more complicated version of it ( As technical issues usually can vary in complexity )Huh, never knew about this issue, thank you both for informing me about this.
With that knowledge, if the streamer is actually good at the game then why would anyone question whether or not he got carried?
This doesn't matter.
Only time stuff like this bothers me is like with that Quinn guy when he boosted and sucked ass and then bitched about the game and the story.
He got carried because he was clearly awful at the game and had no clue what he was doing.
But his case was very obvious.
A Streamer is never going to have the same experience as an average player and will always get benefits like being gifted gil, gear and having high-end players wanting to help you.
So even arguing about this is a bit pointless imo because it's not like it's their fault if they do get carried and even if they don't people will still say that they did.
The only time I'd really even point it out and make that claim is if I watched the footage and they were constantly failing at everything and still got through.
But then you'll get people who will find one example in the fight where they failed and then declare that they were carried because they didn't play flawlessly 110% of the fight...
UCOB and UWU are basically 7-man-able at this point. UCOB is also extremely puggable now. So yes Rich could have easily gotten carried. I did not watch it though, so I cannot comment on whether he has.
The thing though is that while it’s good entertainment (who wants to watch people wipe to Nael for 20 hours?) it’s not representative of what the typical progging experience is. It’s also not indicative of the difficulty of Ultimates, as it has become way too easy with the potency creeps. Min Ilvl TEA (those 5 Ilvls actually matter a ton) is the more representative ultimate raid for now.
Because people are salty as salt can be. For some weird reason streamers get a lot of hate when they clear content. I think it's just envy to be honest.
These streamers seem to be very good players who pick up things quickly. I don't think he was carried but getting a competent group to do the content with them has to be a lot easier.
Yeah, they definitely have certain advantages. But a lot of people need to remember that these people ran difficult content in WoW and FFXIV is kinda really similar. I can go from WoW to FFXIV and vice versa and the rotations aren't alien to me, so it's not like "wow these people are all bad". But they definitely had group advantages.
Speaking of group advantages, this is a hilarious screenshot someone took of party finder after Rich cleared xD

Streamers play the cards of what they got to their favour. People may like or not, and you can be carried o EX and savages, but on Ultimate you really need other 7 good mates and know at least the critical mechs to not wipe the team.
Give him and his team the whole credit, not just “him”. That is the difference.
I think people would've been less negative about the whole thing if he hadn't decided to make UCOB his first step into actual endgame content for whatever reason and that the cries of him being "carried" would've been much lower if he had demonstrated he could stand on his own feet in difficult content beforehand.
Having a good shotcaller like Rin is an absolute gamechanger with the sheer amount of stuff you need to do/remember in ultimates.

Yes, he was carried. To use a better word, heavily handheld.
Let's start with UCOB:
UCOB has joke DPS check these days. It's not a punishing content, there are groups with over 20 KO that cleared it.
It's the favorite ultimate to carry, because of its unpunishing nature in many mechanics. As long as you tank towers and twintania orbs, there is no difficulty in P3.
If you take TEA for example, KO in P1 is a certain wipe, KO in P2 is 99% a wipe, in P3 you have high chance to keep the debuff until the DPS check phase. P4 is the easiest but it doesn't allow many mistakes.
In comparison, UCOB DPS check is a joke, 8 tanks were able to do it.
Let's continue on Rich's situation:
If a player of Rich's level tried UCOB but without being a popular streamer, he would get kicked within the first hour of the prog.
There is no RL that will solely focus on one player, explain their mechanics and play for them. Rin, the RL, played 2 characters at the same time. Rich did the execution.
Finally, the group is full of beasts, Sfia and Rin are among the most talented players in the whole XIV community.
In short, Rich played on a "Streamer difficulty mode"
In conclusion, yes he got many variables that made the prog extremely easy to him.
But the most important question is: Should you care?
Answer is no, it's not the weapon or the title that makes the player good. I've seen legends who belongs in a circus.
Streamers get Streamer privilege, in other word water is wet.
It doesn't impact anyone and doesn't make Rich anymore talented than others. It's normal for Streamers to get these kind of situation, it's not a game, it's a job.

What does being carried even means?
He got just as much carried as anyone who plays through Savage fights after watching/reading a guide IMO (which is what most people do and some still struggle with).
Doesn't matter. He cleared it.
He is just popular enough to be able to easily get a group of skilled veteran players together to help him clear content.
That shit is just cancel culture at its best, nothing more, nothing less.
I am sure the ones insulting him because he was carried were happy to have someone do the callouts for them when they got their Ozma mount too.![]()
