Can one truly be "carried" in an Ultimate Raid?

Might as well open the floodgates, debates, or whatever comes.

After a certain Twitch streamer cleared UCOB several hours ago, there has been debate on whether he got carried, earned his victory, etc.

That reminds me of something that I have wanted to ask for a while. Can one truly be "carried" in an Ultimate raid?

And that is considering the tight item level syncs, extremely tough mechanics, and that all Ultimate raids can never be done unsynced.

Considering he took a photo of his screen instead of a screenshot I'm gonna say yes, he was carried. There's no way you can clear an ultimate and not know where the screenshot button is.

Eh? What does one have to do with the other? Also, due to an oddity with FF14 installs, its possible for the game to lock the screenshot folder so you can't take them without jumping through a few hoops in windows first.

To the OP, I don't think its possible for someone to be a complete dead weight and still have a clear. But I think if the group as a whole is skilled enough, it can make up for someone's shortcomings if they're still contributing moderately well.

Unlike other MMOs, the screenshot button here doesn't properly work ( At least on some PCs ) for a weird reason. When I started playing the game, I wanted to take a screenshot but got an "Unable to screenshot" message.
That problem wasn't solved for me until later after starting SB, which was after months of playing ( After completely finishing ARR and HW exactly like how some new players are doing with the new free trial ), and that only happened because I found an article on how to fix the screenshot issue.
While your statement can be valid in other MMOs, it's not here because I can see others having the same issue or maybe an even more complicated version of it ( As technical issues usually can vary in complexity )

With that knowledge, if the streamer is actually good at the game then why would anyone question whether or not he got carried?

Because people are salty as salt can be. For some weird reason streamers get a lot of hate when they clear content. I think it's just envy to be honest.

These streamers seem to be very good players who pick up things quickly. I don't think he was carried but getting a competent group to do the content with them has to be a lot easier.

I wasn't aware that ultimates featured a crazy mechanic that required everyone in the party to take a screenshot mid-fight to avoid a wipe! Thanks for the PSA! The more you know...
