Ah yes the classic long hair foolery. I used necklaces to trick my mind when I was Elezen, liked my short hair too much.

Catgirls have also very long necks. But interestingly nobody cares about it.

Pretty sure every race has the issue it's just Elezen are the "ugliest" of the bunch so they're double done.

Probably has something to do with the fact they're easier on the eyes overall, shorter, and most of their racial hairstyles are medium to long hair which makes it easier to ignore.
It takes a lot of effort to pretend their animations aren't garbage relative to any other race.

Where as elezen are the complete opposite. Most elezen look bad where it takes an attempt to make a catgirl look bad.
Elezens are also taller than most races and their racial hairstyles are shorthaired meaning attention to the neck is usually the first thing people see.

I've always found myself a bit sad that there's usually at least one thing about the other races that turned me off from rolling them. Hell, even playing as a Highlander, I still wish more muscular and bustier options were a thing so I could better match my in-head character's identity.

Otherwise, Elezens were what I first looked into way back. The Elvaan cousins in FFXI weren't alien to me, especially given the dhalmel neck jokes and occasionally questionable combat animations, but there was still hope I could maybe spend some time in the creator and come up with something elegant and mature. It just never managed to click, and I think part of what makes a certain HW NPC so appealing is that her nature actually compensates for some of the shortcomings myself an others perceive of the race.

You'll never see me roll a lala or taru, though. Just eww.

female elezen are rare, pretty elezen are even more rare- most look stereotypical super goth/vampire and it's cool! but they rarely differ from that aesthetic.

I know that feel. Although, in Light datacenter's case, they tend to look like zombies (grey skin, white hair+eyes, black or white duskwight facial tattoos etc.)

I've been my same grey-skinned, black and purple man-bunned, light-eyed Duskwight self since 2014 and won't change. Only with the current sale on Fantasia have I made any changes, and then only slight ones to reflect the years of adventuring and all the travel back and forth to Norvrandt. His cheeks are a bit more drawn and the eyes have taken on a slight purple hue.

I will always and forever be a Duskwight Elezen.
