I just wish that if you blacklisted someone then every one of thier character account wide was blocked on every one of your characters.

My sister no longer plays this game because of someone constantly rolling a character to harass her again then deleting it when she blocked him. It was a constant never ending battle.

Yeah, apologies that I was dating someone for 5 months and they chose to heavily stalk me in game afterwards and verbally harass anyone who I tried to become friends with who was male. I had to leave the DC, change my phone number and he's still, to this day, trying to contact me through friends/random people.

Apologies that my ex was also dating this girl and had a similar experience to me, except she showed up in person to take it one step further.

We didn't just give out our information to random people. These were people we had real relationships with. What? Do people even do that anymore?

Side note: I did also try to take it up with law enforcement on my end but getting justice for harassment/threats across state lines is not something that's easily done.

Once upon a time, you could

    /blist add Forename Surname

When the servers were preparing for World Visit and everyone became Forename Surname@Worldname, all commands except Tell were modified so that you couldn't type a name manually. Tell would take Forename Surname@Worldname but all other commands would only accept target tags. Ironically but unsurprisingly, as late as last fall, the GM interaction scripts still included incorrectly telling you you could /blist the person with the text command even though this was impossible.

I absolutely think the text commands should be reverted to accept manual name entry. But at the same time, blisting someone is not that difficult. If you don't want to target someone, you can mouseover them, as the blist command still works with target tags:

    /blist add <mo>

and it's unusual to need to have to hunt down a blist target. Ostensibly, if you're blisting someone it's because they have actively chatted, emoted, or telled you something annoying or offensive. All those appear in the chat log except motion emotes, and if they're doing motion emotes, they're there for you to target or mouseover.

It’s wonderful to hear that a lot of people in this thread did not need to utilize their blacklist.

But for the people who use it and/or have the need for it, the current system is lacking.

Also yes you can't blacklist all the people, but I'm pretty sure I can fit my DC finest PvP players into my 200. Maybe the Top 100 first of all?

Wows pvp works differently in rated games (the only pvp that matters) so if you suck you won't be matched with high skill players except maybe after a new season starts and your rating is reset.

Also circumventing ignore is a bannable offense.

Stalking in game is also a thing. Stalking to continually harass. And sometimes it is someone you know irl.

There is nothing wrong with not getting pve matches with people on your ignore list.

Quite frankly, I don't care about pvp here enough to worry about how it'd affect pvp but it'd probably increase queue times.

Kinda weird some people are saying people who utilize their blacklist are snowflakes even though I put plenty of legit scenarios where the list would add up. If you dont want to use yours then thats fine but don’t say people are soft or unhealthy because they do.

I’ve been playing this game for a long time. The player base quality has imo declined drastically since the beginning of HW til now. I had zero problems with it in ARR. That being said, I’ve run into quite a lot of douchebags over the years. That being said mine isn’t at 200, not even halfway there I don’t think... but I don’t find it to be at all unreasonable for someone to achieve it, especially if they’ve played for a while.

That is a shame and it is unfortunate you had to experience such a thing. What they are saying is true the reality is we all make choices and sure sometimes a relationship goes sour and given the way our laws work not much can be done unless one is willing to bleed their bank account dry seeking justice.

All you can do is learn and be more careful and mindful moving forward. It largely is a personal responsibility to prevent or deal with stalkers if they are non violent. Do not get me wrong it is unfortunate but that is how things work within our legal system. Many aspects are just band-aid fixes that will do nothing to prevent a stalker from causing real harm. Though that is also part of the risk of dating and opening up you never really know who you are opening up to it is a leap of faith that has consequences.

I don't know about you, but I've been playing since 2013, and I've encountered tens of thousands of players in that time. I certainly have over 50 in my blacklist, and it's not because of me. Some could be removed by now, but I can't remember why they're in there so I just play it safe. One time I got in a duty with someone I had blacklisted and after my partner read out what they were saying, I was reminded of why they were on my blacklist to begin with.

This. I blacklist bots when I report them so I don't report them twice. I blacklist anyone promoting things in shout, at least for a few days. Anyone that has huge macros, say offensive things, or use party/alliance chat as their personal chat room get put in there. After 8 years of playing, it fills up. Just because you don't care about things, that doesn't mean other people must be the problem for actually using the blacklist.
