Race Request- Winged Elf

most places that are high enough to jump off of (that allow you to jump) you would need flying to get to. so... if you already have a flying mount, you wouldnt need to glide lol

I'd much rather flesh out the races we have now. We should even rework Elezen heads, fix Viera, and save our Hroth friends who just want a haircut.

This is the one thing annoying about adding new races. I don't mind new races, but I'd rather bending and breaking lore be kept to a minimum.

I would love the roleplay.. inspiration.. like that but I don't believe this game should have racials. Should be related to items, jobs, and such, things that everyone could obtain / use with relatively little concept of lock out. I don't really mind the lock out of racial I suppose from WoW... but I think it's just nice(r) to not have that and would prefer it's a bit more unlock for all or "just play that job if you want to roleplay that concept", but yet still have that inspiration of such ideas is quite nice.

Say for example perhaps there was some demon hunter like job in FFXIV, maybe the Reaper job has a wraith form that floats or has wings. Then you might give that job that as an effect of being in that form, perhaps as an unlockable mount (/mount ability) they could use that adds flavor for them being them. Each job getting flavor like that (try not to exclude a job or "only include the cool new job"). Some of which could be share-able, depending on how and what it is (unlock unicorn on white mage, get it for everyone).

As for winged elf... I feel winged Au Ra concept art would be more .. "new", though I do like the suggest it's either a mount skill or like above it might be tied to a job skill.

I looked up the image of the wings from the game you mentioned, I think you might have a cool opportunity with white mage or paladin. Either one of those jobs getting a special winged mount could be pretty cool, like Paladin with those huge energy wings flowing a bit like Tyrael. Nice.

The naga (tideborn) is kind of neat but people would have to be okay with no pants and no shoes lol... Of course the thread focus on elves, what I might counter suggest and see what you think is perhaps a Fae race? I feel that would add better opportunity to go from elf since we already have an elf races (though a new elf clan that is more classical, non-dhamel neck, elf might be a popular addition since those are normally a popular race choice). I think the mythical final spot for race that is unlikely given what they said before, at least with the current restrictions, is going to be a highly coveted spot though .

we have nezha carriages and that smol pvp airship and the... deathclaw thing, so sitting on some beast is not the thing which a mount makes
this way every can live their cosplay dream as winged person thing if they so wish

Alagans are all dead since hundreads of years. Additionally it may be nearly impossible to "bred" Ishgardians with dragons because they fought a war for 1.000 years. I dont expect that they love eachother now. Shiva is an exception here.

When giving wings (as mount maybe?) then like this:
- Elezen got more fairy/elfish wings (insect-like)
- Lalafell got butterfly/angelic wings
- Au Ra got dragon-like wings
... And so on.

Joking aside, they wouldn't even necessarily have to make something up, the Aegyl introduced in FFXII: Revenant Wings could work without too many changes to their backstory or design. Mechanically I figure the same limitations as everyone else would apply, so maybe their sprint animation could be (very) low altitude flight as a way to kind of compensate for the fact you won't be able to actually fly for a while? Not sure how self-powered flight would be handled (a "mount"? something else entirely??) though?

I mentioned this in another thread but I would love if flying characters were more of a thing in games in general...

Perfect world is one of my favourite MMOs of my childhood, one of the reasons for me, was the tide born and winged elves. Both races had a unique talent, although I understand that ain’t feasible, I would request a consideration of the races for pure visual reasons.

1) The winged elves, look like humans with pointy ears, with bright wings [white, blue, and yellow for angelic] and dark wings [red, purple, and black for demonic]. In that game, winged elves can fly and glide eons before other races can fly. Instead what I propose is the ability to double jump and glide like demon hunter in WoW

Lore adaption:

The ancient race, alagans? [forget the thing from story], took a bunch of Ishguardians and bred them with dragons through science and magic. They added rthgar [human dna]. The result is humans with pointy ears, who have dragon wings.

The races split early after escaping, the umbral [demonic], and astral [angelic]. The umbral have dark skin colour, and cat eyes, while astral have lighter colours and regular eyes.

The race would be added after endwalker released, in the post patch.

For some reason. Whenever I read "Winged elves" the image of Mobile games comes into my mind. It's probably something they will do and not something SE will.

As a huge fan of both wings and elves, I'd be all over this race XD (Though I know this will never happen.)
