Well he's specifically wearing that to hide his identity from those searching for him.FFXIV isn't Middle Earth or Tamriel or Medieval Europe. Some things that may seem to be immersion breaking at first actually fit within the setting. Including some of the goofier glam pieces like the pig costume, there's an NPC in Idyshire that actually wears that for example. The items we can get actually exist within the lore of the game. You can make an arguement for crossover items I guess but for the most part they don't tend to stand out too much anyway.
Glamour also exists in the lore, so while I can understand if a an outfit takes you out of it a bit, none of it's really lore breaking.
