I understand where you're coming from, absolutely. I too had these thoughts where I observe other people's glamour and think "Oh, that's very out of themed for Final Fantasy" because within each Final Fantasy game, all the NPC's and main characters have outfits that are fitting for that timeline of the game. I've just accepted that this game doesn't necessarily have a 'strict theme' so if people choose to wear modern-looking outfits then it's none of my business.

Though some of the more sci-fi ish titles were just inserted briefly as crossover events. Given the elaborate clothing designs however that numerous NPC's in game are seen wearing is there any actual reason why someone couldn't make something like a t-shirt, hoodie, jeans, sneakers, etc...?

It's not even as common that people use these mogs as people make it out to be, it's just that if someone is upset by something they're more likely to pay attention to it and notice it.
If you come across ten players and one of them has a mog you for some reason have issues with you're more likely to notice it and pay attention to that one mog and not the nine others.
And modern clothing is already part of the actual canon, Tataru even makes you an outfit that is quite modern looking ( scion adventurer's set ) and there's a ton of characters that wear modern clothes it's clearly a thing that exists.

I think that '' timeline '' or anything having to do with time and time periods etc is a bit silly to get into even ignoring this because there's straight up sci-fi technology all over the game.
It has escalated since ARR but I think that has more to do with the world opening up more, we're not some small time adventurer anymore and we've been exposed to more of the world.

SE could just change some of the glamour for the npcs as well. There is a lot of outdated stuff in the game and as the game is evolving, I think they could do some tinkering here and there. I think this would be a reasonable solution.

Personally, I would still rather Eorzea to look more high fantasy on everything, but we are beyond that now.

Nah the most immersion breaking thing in game is the lack of toilets... I mean at this point someone has to have created magic toilets that send our poo to the void...

I'm not condoning it, but there is a creator who posts clientside things on a website which should not be named that takes annoying things like 2B leggings and replaces them with pants that don't burn my eyes whenever I'm forced to look, and there are similar clientside things for stuff like ultimate weapons or mogstation gear.

Could always figure out where all said clientside things are that way you can avoid them and also see which things you should NOT install because that would totally be breaking TOS

I am just trying to imagine actually being annoyed and '' burning your eyes '' because of the sight of a butt lol.
I really can't sympathize at all with how overly sensitive some people are with this, especially with lets be real here how rare it actually is in games especially nowadays.
As much as some people complain about it in FFXIV, it's an extremely tiny minority of gear that shows any skin.
Like is it really that big of a problem to being exposed to the human ( or mostly human ) body every once in a while?

This extreme and tbh rather obnoxious puritanism is so silly to me especially with how normalized gratuitous violence is.
I dunno why some people are incapable of simply ignoring things that don't appeal to them.
It's sorta like people losing their minds about gay relationships, in the end of the day this kind of content is rare so I guess that if you're pandered to already in 95-99% of cases then when something doesn't it feels weird or something.
But I think people can deal with it because the rest of us do with things we don't like.

It kinda reminds me of the reaction from certain people to the Project Eve trailer from the last Sony event, it's like y'all got a crap ton of games announced that appeal to you but this one game that appeals to a different audience is apparently so awful and shouldn't exist?

You're allowed to think that, but I think that a lot of things are '' an eyesore '' but don't go so far out of my way and break the ToS just to get rid of it.
If you're gay then I honestly don't even understand why you'd react to it at all ( it's not only female characters either, lots of half-naked dudes ).
Only case I could kinda understand it a little bit is if you're trans and suffer from dysmorphia I know that in some cases it can trigger it for some trans people.
Or like if it's some content you have an actual phobia against.

No one is saying that you can't dislike something, it's just about the reaction to it that goes beyond that which I don't understand nor sympathize with at all.
And it's almost always this one thing too...
And I do think that it's something people are conditioned into, I don't think that having negative reactions to seeing a human body is a natural thing I think it's something people are taught and that it's not a good thing to be taught.


Maybe you're not asking for the deletion of it, but there clearly are people here who are asking for it and for there to not be anymore of it added in the future.
I just think that a normal reaction should be to ignore it if you don't like it.
