They should make the orchestrion remember your choice

It's a feature I collect things for and almost never end up using because I have to open it up and select the track I want every time. The only instance I even spend any time in a hotel room is when doing glamour edits. It just seems like a wasted feature in it's current form.

Well... it's a inn room. Not our room per se (aka, the idea is that other folks will be using it at some point as well). Honestly it never even occurred to me that going into those that such settings would be maintained...

I wouldn't be against having that change to where it is saved, but it's not something I'd ever go out of my way to look for, much less use. *shrug*

Yeah, it's because the orchestrion information is part of the room data -- apartment, FC personal room, estate (personal house or FC house), etc. The inn room is inherently a transient room; it only exists while you're in there. So it's created fresh when you arrive, and when you leave it ceases to be -- thus, so does any state data for it (such as the orchestrion).

I just tend to think of it as being that I've checked in to a new room each time; when it's a new room you just checked into in a hotel, it's not like the thermostat settings and such you had in your previous hotel room carry along with you. (Which falls apart in ShB, since the "inn room" is your own room, so narratively it isn't a different room each time.)

Now, one assumes they could add an extra field to a character record—'selected inn room Orchestrion track'—and just reapply it every time they create an inn room for that character. But as simple as that seems, I've done enough work on large software systems to be able to assure you, "simple" often isn't; it's quite possible that the create-an-inn-room logic doesn't happen at a place where it has access to character data, and if they waited to set it until you were in the inn room it might mean there's time for the first few notes of the default music to play before switching over -- not an ideal scenario. And if they had to rework the entire 'instantiate a solo area' code it would probably be more effort than it's worth. :/

On many servers this isn't the case. Haven't checked for a bit, but pretty sure that on my server, every apartment has been sold for quite a while.
