Launcher login screen is double typing my password to programs running in the back!

I am completely new to FFXIV, just joined less than a month ago. While putting my password into the launcher to play the game each time, the launcher is accepting my keystrokes while ALSO putting that same keystroke into whatever program I was last using. It has made me put my password into discord, google chrome, word doc, etc.

My password has been exposed each time I log in and I want to know how to fix it. I have literally never seen this before with any other program or website ever. It only happens with the FFXIV launcher login. Not even the username part, literally JUST the password.

    Welcome to Eorzea!

That sounds very strange - assuming it's not a setting in Windows for accessability that is set to copy your key presses, it's possible this may instead be a nasty piece of malware has ended up on your computer called a keylogger that has inadvertently glitched and is merely copying your password into random things instead of recording it and sending it to someone else to steal. A way to protect your password is instead of typing it in with your actual keyboard, is to use the 'software keyboard' provided on the launcher beside the login section - this is a grey button beside the login fields with what looks like a keypad on it.

The software keyboard requires you to use your mouse to press the onscreen key buttons to enter your password, which is invisible to malware like keyloggers and thus would stop your pasword being stolen (I've used it for logging in on both FFXIV and FFXI since SE first introduced it years ago and I've never had any problems with it).

Running antivirus and malware detection software like Malwarebytes might help.

A common problem with the launcher is if you click in the username box and type too early, another window becomes the active window instead of the launcher and you type into the wrong location.

Thank you, but I have anti-malware protection and stuff. I have been doing scans and sweeps everyday and have had nothing pop up. If it is a keylogger it's so broken that not even the anti-malware can detect it! lol

Also, that double/copy setting thing isn't on.
