You would be drawn into the game as it is at this very moment, in-game rules, character with multiple jobs, and all. if your character can do it, you'd be able to do it as well. The only difference is Eorzea would be your reality and it would be you, as you are now mentally and emotionally, inhabiting your character within the world of the game. The big question noone is asking is do we get to use the game mechs like switching jobs on the fly and everything? Like would I be a badass astro or am I just in the game looking like my character? Also Would we be stuck within the limits of the game or is this like real life but now in FFXIV? As a comic book artist you're making me plot out an actual story I might write lol.
The one assumption I'm making is the *entire* world would be open and continuous rather than contained in different zones.
Isekai is a HUGE genre in Japan. I'd highly suggest looking into Log Horizon as it's the light novel/anime that's best (IMO) at portraying what it would be like for an entire server to be zapped into a game at one time with no way home. Having to adjust to being their old self in their game bodies, with all of the politics of the old NPC nations being *real* now, and just having to adjust to not living in the "real world" of Earth any longer is done extremely well.

What about
- the alts? Will they disappear? Appear as "friends"? As alternate self with whom we have telepathic connection?
- Fantasia? Are they gone for good as soon as we enter the game?

Normality is just an average. I'm the weird, you're the bizarre.
I'd keep it in my inventory/saddlebag just in case, but would also tell Jandelaine he can now improvise a hairstyle that doesn't involve plastic surgery (you know, because Hrothgar)
If I’ve got Isekai, I would join Ascians.
Those are good questions. Let's say alts would be in the world as well as distinct individuals. If you've made them IRL as RP alts, then they'd have the personality you role-played them having. Fantasias would disappear, you would permanently be the character as it is physically at the moment of login.
hmm, a question, would the fantasia allow us to change once we are in, or only before, if in, are we as limited by the character creator?

You'd be limited to using Fantasia BEFORE logging in. Any Fantasia that you may have in your inventory would go away so you'd be stuck in your character's body as it is at the moment of login. Any changes would have to be made before clicking the character to go into the game.
I realize I may have been a bit mis-spoken. When using "login" I meant the point where you choose the character to play with, not the point where you enter your username and password. This would give you the opportunity to choose which character to go with and allow you to use a Fantasia prior to entering the game. That is the only opportunity you would have to change anything about the character. Once you're in, you're in as-is, for good other than things the Aesthetician can do.
Also, to respond to a previous point; the world would not look like computer game graphics, it would appear as if it were true-to-life as we see/feel/hear/taste/smell now IRL.
