ok so..started about 2 days ago...and man this game is no cake walk which is fine with me...has a pretty steep learning curve *for me at least*

anyways I just have a few questions..I can't seem to mine anything but tin and other mats I have yet to get copper and the recopies i see online all need copper :'( is there a secret to copper? LOL

Do the allowances for leve's come back everyday? or some other time limit

also what's the max level? haha

again thanks for the help i have been doing a lot of research for the things i want to do and most of the questions are answered but if i think of more i'll post again...and this game is really great...i am extremely glad i gave it a shot..

Different regions have different materials. For copper, you'll need to go to Thanalan by taking an airship to Ul'dah. Some of the recent patch notes from when they altered where items are gathered have lists of what all you can gather at each camp, and you can also look on various fansites like ffxiv.gamerescape.com.

Leves come back every... 12 hours I think? You can check time until you get more in your attributes menu.

Since your head is swimming I might recommend going to a few fansites to learn more. That way you will spend more of your in game time doing things you want instead of running around. Try mooglebox.com, in addition to eorzeapedia.

Welcome and thanks for playing the game for yourself instead of making decisions based on other people's experiences.

You're talking about that little orb? That's for materia. You slot it in, and it boosts stats. To make materia, you use gear until the spiritbond guage maxes out. Once you've done a quest (think it unlocks at 18) you can turn gear with a full gauge into materia. To attach materia to gear, you need a few things: You need a high enough craft, you need a catalyst (gotten by gathering in certain areas, must complete a quest to get the skill to make it drop), and you need to do a quest to unlock the ability to do so. In addition, certain materia only goes on certain slots: You can slot intelligence and mind into a hat, but not strength for example. It all sounds really complicated on paper, but once you mess around with it some, it's easy to get into.

Feel free to use the airship constantly. It takes you between the three starting cities of Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania. All three cities have the same features, as far as levelling goes: They all have new camps every 10 levels (with 2 camps for each range starting at 30), guildleves you can accept, quests to do, and guilds for accepting quests.

As far as quests go, it's not a clear "every X levels". I believe by the time you hit 20, you'll be able to do four quests in the main storyline. Speaking of quests however, at level 20 you'll be able to do a guild quest at your guild for xp and lore. You get another at 30, and a final one at 36. This is for EVERY class, even disciplines of land and hand. For disciplines of War and Magic only, however, they also are able to quests to unlock jobs at 30, with new quests every 5 levels to unlock new abilities, and the last 2 supplying you with a full set of artifact armor.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I have a question on that. I used to play FFXI years ago, and was never able to get new jobs at 30, because they usually required a group and a much higher level. Will I be able to get a job and do all the quests at the levels they unlock, and do em solo? And afterwards, can I level as the job instead of a class or will I not gain levels that way?

For the OP: Your stock of leve allowances increases by 4 every 12 hours, up to 99. don't be afraid to find monsters around your level to XP off of when you do run out of leves. Just poke your head around whatever camp you are doing leves at and you should be able to find enemies of the appropriate level somewhere. Mooglebox.com also has a camp location tool that can help you out.

For Shardik: Jobs are basically a specialized mode for Classes that give you new abilities centered around party play to make your party role more focused while at the same time limiting the amount of versatility you have. For an example, White mage is just a mode of Conjurer instead of its entirely own thing, so they do not level seperately. Think of it like putting a piece of gear on your Conjurer (in fact, you equip a Soul Crystal to change to a job). You are still a Conjurer, you just have a different piece of gear on.

Job quests are quite tough at the level they become available so you will either need a large party or high level help. Alternatively, you will do just fine just getting to level cap then working on the lower level Job quests solo.
